If he was good we wouldn't have been able to keep him long anyway. I hope we aren't paying big NIL money to high school kids. We should be spending it all on free agentsThe kid is from the southeast corner of Missouri. The state $EC school decided to offer.
Not a crucial loss, SDE is well stocked, we’ll find another. Move on.
Good luck to the kid.
These kids don't care who we win or lose to. They don't care what our trophy case looks like. This isn't 2020. They care about who is going to give them more $$$Wonder who the next decommit will be after two straight losses.
If you’re highly recruited enough it can be used as leverage honestly for another school you’d like to kick it in gear a bit for you.I have never understood the point of commitments. They mean absolutely nothing. Why commit somewhere when you are not actually committed. Just wait until you are actually ready to sign or until you do or dont get the offer you want.
Nobody can see the future. Sometimes guys commit because at the time of the offer it's the best situation for them so they commit while the offer is still there. He probably had every intention of coming to ISU and then something he felt was better came along. Let's say he holds off and doesn't commit to ISU, we fill the scholly we had for him, and nothing comes along better for him.I have never understood the point of commitments. It just sucks that other teams don’t lose.Wonder who the next decommit will be after two straight losses.

I agree which is why I always tell people to not get excited about these kids until they step on campus. I don't get excited about any HS kids anymore. The odds of a kid spending 4 year in any place these days is slim and none. I get excited about transfers nowadays.I get it, but like I said, there is nothing committed in a commitment.
Sometimes in life you have to make a tough decision, only to find out there may have been a better option further down the road, but you made said decision and have to live with it.
Similar to when they sign, they made that decision, and they have to stick with it, at least until they can transfer, which is a whole other issue.
It may be just the way I was raised. I was raised that you stick with what you agreed on. You finish what you start. You make a decision you stick with it. You go out for a sport you dont quit, you finish the season. Right down to if you take something on your plate you eat it. (My grandma expected you to mop your plate with bread so it was completely clean, and didnt even look used when finished eating, great depression experiences stuck with her the rest of her life) Etc.
So, I am sure it is just me, I just think calling it a commit is a joke because none of these guys are committed they are waiting for something better to come along, that is not a commitment.
At any rate recruiting is getting less and less important the with the way transfers have taken over.
sacks? what are thoseMaybe just maybe it isn’t designed for the linemen to get sacks
Sure.Talk to me about SDE being well stocked.
Which I get, but when a guy commits it also shuts the door to us offering to backups as we have limited roster limit. So it goes both ways. Then it puts the school in a bind to re-recruit for the position.Nobody can see the future. I hear you. I'm married and the Mrs. doesn't give me sacks either.sacks? what are those
I'm pretty sure this is happening as well. Hell I think there was a pretty clear case of this on the ISU MBB team just a few years ago.Which I get, but when a guy commits it also shuts the door to us offering to backups as we have limited roster limit. So it goes both ways. Then it puts the school in a bind to re-recruit for the position.
I am sure there would be outrage if a school offered a guy, he commits, then the school find someone else that is better and pull the offer from the first guy because there isn't enough roster space.
I don’t want anyone here who would rather be some place else.I would like to see the signing binding for one year unless the coach leaves. That would make the signings and signing period more valid.

Yeah, but you'll have a rash of players with phantom injuries around the 4 game mark and not play for the remainder of the season to preserve a redshirt and 4 years of eligibility elsewhere. Meanwhile the teams are short on players for the current season.I would like to see the signing binding for one year unless the coach leaves. none of these de-commits have signed yet. Signing day isn't until the winter. All these are just verbal because that is all they can do at this point.I would like to see the signing binding for one year unless the coach leaves. That would make the signings and signing period more valid.
