ISU unranked in AP poll

I wasn't looking that the individual ballots just the final ballot that came out today.
Right, and I was adding one voter who continously intentionally is keeping Iowa State low in his individual ballot is a reason why ISU remains stalled at 14 instead of moving up.

They were ranked #10 in AP poll when they played.
I was told the AP only matters when the CFP is not ranking.

I was told no one looks at the AP once the CFP starts ranking.

But since you want to be wrong AGAIN! The AP had SMU at #12 when they played Penn St.

Oops, you're right, SMU was #10 in the final CFP rankings before the playoffs started, not the AP.

Maybe he was going by AP?

The problem with that is they were supposedly ranked #10....but seeded #11. So? It appears everyone considered them the #11 team.

Again, saying he is completely wrong because of a slight gray area is really reaching.

All the other rankings had them below the top ten, the CFP had them at 10... but seeded 11. Regardless Penn st has a perpetual Fake ID.

Lol, no. Boise St. was ranked #9 but was the #3 seed. You think everyone considered Boise St. the #3 team? No. It was the seeding model. PSU was ranked #4 and seeded #6. Their ranking and seeding were two different things.

You are still really trying to prove this dude wrong, what is funny you were proven wrong like a dozen times in this thread, in what you said trying to prove his one thing wrong, that was only wrong if you look at one tiny gray area. Then you are acting like everything he said was wrong, with the whole all you have to do is look at last year to prove him wrong, like he would be if you looked at any year. You have to look at one ranking... one week, and only that ranking not the seeding to follow, as listed.

You also realize when you look at any tourney teams are listed by seeding not ranking. The NCAA once the tourney is bracketed teams are listed by seed not ranking. No one listed ISU or showed them as their ranking last year in the tourney, they listed them by their seed number.

I realize Iowa doesnt make tourneys very often but that is the way it is always done.

Lol, simple fact remains SMU was ranked #10 by the CFP when PSU beat them and the dude who posted didn't include them as a top-10 win for PSU. His mistake. They happen. I just corrected.

If you're saying SMU was #11 because of their seed then you're also saying Boise St. was the #3 team in the country when they played. Lol.

This is the only thing that mattered when they played.

College Football Playoff rankings, seeds

You can see how these numbers — the seed and the CFP ranking — differ below. The four teams with byes are in bold.

Here are the final CFP top 25 rankings, with teams in the CFP also getting their seeds included at the end.

  1. Oregon — highest-ranked conference champion (Big Ten) and seeded No. 1
  2. Georgia — second-highest-ranked conference champion (SEC) and seeded No. 2
  3. Texas — at-large pick (second team from the SEC), seeded No. 5
  4. Penn State — at-large pick (second team in the Big Ten), seeded No. 6
  5. Notre Dame — at-large pick (independent), seeded No. 7
  6. Ohio State — at-large pick (third team from the Big Ten), seeded No. 8
  7. Tennessee — at-large pick (third team from the SEC), seeded No. 9
  8. Indiana — at-large pick (fourth team from the Big Ten), seeded No. 10
  9. Boise State — third-highest-ranked conference champion (Mountain West) and seeded No. 3
  10. SMU — at-large pick (from the ACC), seeded No. 11
  11. Alabama — first team out of the CFP
  12. Arizona State — fourth-highest-ranked conference champion (Big 12) and seeded No. 4
  13. Miami (Fla.) — second team out of the CFP
  14. Ole Miss — third team out of the CFP
  15. South Carolina — fourth team out of the CFP
  16. Clemson — fifth-highest-ranked conference champion (ACC) and seeded No. 12
  17. BYU — fifth team out of the CFP
  18. Iowa State — sixth team out of the CFP
  19. Missouri — seventh team out of the CFP
  20. Illinois — eighth team out of the CFP
  21. Syracuse — ninth team out of the CFP
  22. Army — 10th team out of the CFP
  23. Colorado — 11th team out of the CFP
  24. UNLV — 12th team out of the CFP
  25. Memphis — 13th team out of the CFP

This. You often hear "AP rankings dont matter, its the playoff committee that matters". Well the selection committee basically just mirrored the AP rankings last year.
Right, these people watch that poll week after week, and see who is preseason ranked, they see oh Texas beat #2 team, oh Bama lost to #1 Team, etc. They use those rankings to figure out SOS etc those ranks are engrained in their heads before they start their rankings, so any biases they already have are just strengthened and confirmed by the AP for weeks before they start.

I know exactly what you are saying, I also am saying once the tourney starts the only thing that matters is the seed, not the rank.

Lol, whatever helps you sleep.

I'm not saying they do, I'm just saying the dude's post was wrong. Lol.
Which reads like an Iowa fan saying they beat a ranked team because South Dakota State was ranked in the FCS poll when they played them.

You might not be exactly wrong, but in the end does that really matter.

Boy, the AP Poll is taking a lot of neat on social media this week. Its been building and I wonder if it will have an impact on voters or how the AP selectees them.
