Rumormill

kyle got hurt during a game and was pulled out of the game

he wasn't "rumored" to get injured two days before a game.
Let me make it simple for you.

Putting him on questionable, when he was healthy Saturday, makes it “look like something bad happened”.

Same goes for McDonough.

Because it did. We just don’t know what yet.

This isn’t rocket science.

Gotta assume it’s just waiting on test results before declaring him out.

Nah. Me as a regular Joe got MRI results within hours, these D1 athletes would have full results & multiple courses of action even faster. Now they could still be deciding on what treatment option they're going to go with, but they surely have had the MRI results.

ok ty

Well, “ffs”, it’s still just a rumor that it’s an ACL. Hello?
There’s dude’s in here literally saying he
could even if it’s torn because a QB did for a game 20 years ago

You mean one game from here out, right?
Correct, Typical Redshirt allows for a football player to participate in 4 games, excluding the post season.
For a Medical Redshirt, the injury has to happen prior to mid-season of the regular season, and the athlete cannon return to play through the end of the season, including the post season. (has to be a complete season ending injury).

And Coop has played 4 regular season games, so would have to sit until the post season to use a regular redshirt.

Those trainers and team orthos are pros. They knew exactly what the diagnosis was before the imaging with something a 'common' as an ACL. All the imaging does is confirm severity and give the surgeon a look so that he knows what he's getting into.

if he plays even one game (doesn't matter if it is post season) medical redshirt isn't available.
if he is out until post season, a regular redshirt is available.
There’s no such thing as medical redshirts any more, and medical hardships are only considered after a redshirt has been used.

So, if out all year, he could play post season and redshirt.

A medical hardship would only come into play if he missed next year.

Isn't that some sort of Mongol tent? :p

Just looking at my keyboard and trying to figure out how that particular typo happened. You have it surrounded!
I have a meningioma (yes, a brain tumor) that is affecting the optic nerve for my right eye, and displaces my vision.

Found out last Friday it’s benign, thank heavens.

Anyway, I was trying to type “typed”. ;)

I get it. It was just weird that you nailed the letters to both sides of the letter you wanted. I'm not sure how that happens.

Sorry about your tumor. I hope it is operable.

OK. I thought they needed to wait a day or two for the initial swelling to go down before doing an MRI.

Well this got serious quickly. Yikes. Glad it’s benign.

"Hardship waiver" (official term)
"Medical hardship" (familiar)
"Medical redshirt" (colloquial)

Different terms. Same thing.

if a player tears an ACL, and his coach says that the player might OK to play, that coach is either a liar or an idiot.
Well if you know anything about Coach Campbell you know he very much plays major injuries close to chest and quiet. I don’t know if that makes him a liar and I don’t think it makes him an idiot. Does he beat around the bush with those situations? Yes he does. But it’s way of doing things so it is what it is. If he thinks it’s a good strategic thing to do then by all means.
