Being smart. You keep pumping up the conference total. At the same time, you start shutting down conferences. Now you have 2 big ones, 2 a couple steps behind, and several quite a ways behind. Now you have Rutgers, Purdue, Iowa, MN, etc a good amount about the other conference schools. They don’t want to take a chance they lose the big dogs so they will agree to take a smaller amount to keep them above the 12 and ACC.I don't know why OSU, PSU, and Michigan haven't used their leverage in the past. Its always been those 3( and especially OSU)and the rest.
Link?
Wow this is delusional. You may be right, but likely you are wrong sooner or later and like the majority your (you and Gonzo) schools truly have no say in the matter. You have just benefitted from your geographic location to date.Appreciate you fighting but you’re never going to convince them. They are the person who got cheated on and are so bitter they go around telling everyone in a relationship that it will happen to them to. It’s a perfect strategy because even if nothing happens in the next ten years they can still just say the same thing of “oh just keep waiting it will happen to you to”
Texas is in now, so they will inevitably cause issues as they always have. Miss, Miss St, Vanderbilt, Missouri etc really aren't brands any more than the teams previously listed in the Big 10 or any in the Big 12 or ACC. Not even sure Oklahoma will eventually make the cut.The SEC is more brand balanced. Half of the league is blue bloods.
I do think eventually they will also do a similar thing. Texas and OU resented subsidizing us. Why wouldn’t they feel the same about Vanderbilt and Miss St?

OU is on the Nebraska trajectory.
Unequal revenue in the original Big 12 was probably the ultimate setup for them and it'll never be that good again.
My guess is the Big Ten will continue to equally share media revenue but base CFP/Bowl/NCAA Tournament revenue distribution on who actually earns the money.
Makes the absolute most sense.
Carter could’ve been very clear and said what you are proposing. But he didn’t. He purposely left it very open ended. That speaks volumes. No way he just misspoke. My guess is the Big Ten will continue to equally share media revenue but base CFP/Bowl/NCAA Tournament revenue distribution on who actually earns the money.

There is one money whale left and that is ND, outside of the Irish, no one team that you bring in is going to bring in more cash for any league, that raises the payout to all members of the current league.I actually really like all of our Big Ten fans that lurk here, Hawkeyes and others...but they are extremely naive on this one. They've run out of expansion projects that bring in more than they take, even picking off the very top ACC brands might just have them shredding water per even split. We saw Washington and Oregon just barely made the cut and really had to beg and that got them the by far biggest brands in entire PNW where they previously had none. One major Florida or Texas school is probably the only addition that moves the needle for Big Ten per capita payout to a larger amount from here...so the next thing is go unequal. I think both $$$ leagues would vastly prefer unequal sharing vs kicking the poor programs out and cannibalizing wins on field in a super league.
If you look at the teams that didn't make the cut...Cal/Stan was not remotely considered and that's a massive bay area metro. Kansas and Arizona got passed over even though they have a lot of positives that would have made for a fit. I'm not sure a UVA or UNC really brings massively more than those two would, if they do it's not by a huge margin.
The Iowas of the world are on a path to being Washington Generals and the threat of "Super League" without them will have them LEAPING to get a smaller piece of the pie than Ohio State and Michigan.
I disagree. Greed will take over in my opinion. My guess is the Big Ten will continue to equally share media revenue but base CFP/Bowl/NCAA Tournament revenue distribution on who actually earns the money.

But how much money can ND even bring in per team money raise? They have to split it 20 ways. $5M more per team per year? That’s not that significant for B1G. It would be more for the prestige and power. There is one money whale left and that is ND, outside of the Irish, no one team that you bring in is going to bring in more cash for any league, that raises the payout to all members of the current league.
