***@ Arkansas State Pregame Thread***

I'm guessing the completion of Cytown will mean the end of these G5 away games. It will mostly only be an income stream when the team is in town.
Yeah, nope. Have you paid attention to the overall plan, let alone the general lease agreements?

A lot of bluster in this thread. Got a soft spot for Arkansas State. They were the first college football game during Covid.

EDIT: It was Central Arkansas-Austin Peay. Oops.

We saved one or two million bucks to be specific. Other Big 12 schools are doing the same thing. For example, Utah is playing at Wyoming next Saturday.
It’s a 1-for-1. We didn’t save anywhere close to 2 million.

This is the same type of financial decision as “alcohol sales don’t add enough to make it worth it” . Which may have been true pre-revenue sharing

It only has a chance to work if the Iowa game results in being able to make as much in season ticket sales from 6 home games as 7. Although the variable income from concessions and such factor in- and as mentioned, if CyTown is successful, it means it cost more to give up the home game.

Utah is playing a team they’ve played 81 times. We play Arkansas St. Not comparable,

Not at all a "trap" game. This is a "win by 10 at most game" so you don't show anything (if there is) left in the bag you haven't shown type game. Execute on the basics, get back home.

I can see a bit of a slow start after 3 weeks going including Dublin, closeish game at half (probably meltdowns on the game day thread because people think players/teams should just be at the same level all the time and don't watch other games where rough starts are normal) and then a 35-10ish type of close out.

Nebraska paid Arkansas State $1.65 million to play them in Lincoln, and that was in 2015. We'd probably have to pay Arkansas State closer to $2 million in 2025.

By playing them home and home, we're only paying for our travel expenses to Jonesboro for one game, which I'm guessing would be around a few hundred thousand dollars. Unless I'm missing something here, it means our savings would be between $1-2 million.

I'll admit I still have PTSD from the Ohio game a few years ago, but we're also a much better team than we were that year and that Ohio team looks to be much better than what this Arkansas State team looks to be. Weird things can happen in football, but we should be able to handle business and hopefully get some of the 2nd and 3rd string meaningful snaps.

John Walters pretty nervous about this game, says were gonna have to play a lot of players due to heat.
That may be true, but so will they and I will take our depth. For that reason, I wouldn’t hate tempo early but I also know Campbell…

@alarson, care to explain why you disagree, or do you just enjoy hitting that big red X button?

No way. These home/homes mean ISU doesn’t have to pay these teams to come here. It saves millions.

What is the revenue for a sold out home game in September?

What is the revenue for a sold out home game in September with beer sales?

We went to the game in Little Rock vs Arkansas, Arkansas State was no match for an average SEC team and I personally don't expect much different this coming weekend

Tickets are easy to get and cheap for a Power 5 football game, I bought 8 for our family of Cyclone Fans who have been in Arkansas for 15 years and one die hard Arkansas State alum, who played volleyball for the Red Wolves, Jonesboro is about a 9 hour drive, hope to see many fellow Cyclones in the crowd
My nephew and his family are driving from Montgomery,Ala to to game

Not that much when 75% of our tickets are season tickets. I would also guess the G5 game is the least likely to sell out, I don't think we ever have since we expanded the stadium.
