Agree. I don't yet have a good sense of how competitive the Big 10 also-rans are this year, but I think this is the year Iowa doesn't magically win 8+ games despite being unable to score.I really don't see Iowa winning more than 5 games.

His stubbornness to never change and never leave has run that program straight into the abyss of staleness. The wave of text messages blowing up my phone from Hawkeye fans captioning “Kirk needs to go”

Observations:
Iowa is not that bad.....just not great.
Hard to get a read on their QB. Gives them another dimension, but isn't really fast and I'm not so sure the captain is going to really let him run much for fear of injury. And for some reason he seems really scared to let it go. Maybe that will change as the season unfolds.
Their defense is good again......not great. Rocco had receivers open that he either over threw or they dropped.
I thought Matt and Houser called a very good game. But like above......too many misses and drops. That miracle tip was a very bad pass. Very fortunate.
The defense stays healthy, as good as it is now.....be very salty towards money time.
I can't ever remember having a weapon at kicker like ISU does now. I can remember for years ISU was lucky to make an extra point.
Good tough game overall and I think having that first game against KSU did help.
Well they shouldn't bring ***** TEs to a big boy fight.“Ostrenga got hurt in the first quarter, ISU was intentionally hurting our TEs!” - Iowa fans, probably
Kids that care about football and being in a fun offense have watched the same incompetence that is the Iowa offense their whole lives. Why would anyone good want to go there? Its a laughing stock. But seriously, what are we going to do when Iowa finds themselves a competent receiver?
The bounce was lucky. Just clarifying bounce vs catch. The catch itself wasn’t lucky but a big deflection going to a place where we could catch it was a little lucky. I think it’s okay to admit that
Did I miss something or did they not even mark off the penalty against Iowa after Wetjen was tackled at the 5?
ISU declined it for some reason
Thanks, that was weird, especially as that was just one of several things that wasn’t explained to the TV audience. Didn’t really seem to make a difference about three plays later, but I wondered why it wasn’t at the 2 1/2.
John and Eric kind of lost their minds on the radio when it happened
The only thing I can think of is if the holding foul occurred before the kick, accepting it would require punting again? I don’t even know if that’s a thing in the rules, I thought any foul like that on a punting play gives the kicking team the option of kicking again or adding the penalty to the end of the return. Why on earth would we decline the penalty? I think that's BS. You 100% put them on the 2.5 vs. the 5 yard line every time. I would like to hear what really happened.

It did for me only as karma for the conservative play calling and playing for that long fg. Konrardy is going to be a great kicker in the league though. As soon as Konrardy walked on the field my mind immediately went to "so the defense just has to hold" (and then they turned into absolute terrors). It never even crossed my mind that Konrardy might miss.
That’s what really happened. The ref made the announcement. Can’t tell you why howeverWhy on earth would we decline the penalty? I think that's BS. You 100% put them on the 2.5 vs. the 5 yard line every time. I would like to hear what really happened.
