So Zeb can do whatever he chooses for all I care, but I don’t see how leaving mid season is advantageous to him. He’s used his redshirt, and this year is going to be lost anyway unless somehow the NCAA looks at his snap count in the Okie State game and gives him a break. But even if they did that, he still doesn’t have a red shirt to use unless his first year was a medical redshirt since he tore his ACL? Interesting situation

If it turns out he is transferring I don't blame this kid at all. He is too good of a QB to sit and be a back up the rest of his career. Like most, I wish it wasn't mid season, but still don't blame the move overall. I'm still in disbelief Mike Warren stayed a cyclone. Have to think if he would of transferred he would have been a good running back for someone. Hope down the stretch we are winning games big enough to get Kempt, Warren, and others that have pour their hearts into being cyclones some playing time. Does worry me for depth next year considering how much Brock sacrifices his body.

Also, anytime I play dynasty mode on NCAA Football my recruiting abilities get substantially better in year 2 and 3. Because of this I always have my original recruits leave because I play freshmen over them. The good news is, I'm usually winning national titles in years 5 & 6. :)

Didn’t Bates still end up on an NFL preseason team or training camp or something remarkable for a guy that ended up barely playing at Ohio?

I believe he got a Super Bowl ring with the Seahawks, but not sure that he ever actually played a snap in the NFL.

I'm surprised by this turn of events. I thought Zeb had a chance to be on of ISU's better QBs the last decade...before Purday broke onto the scene. Seemed to have great poise in the pocket and really strong arm. Seemed he had a pretty solid completion percentage as well. Best of luck to him if he's gone.

He should transfer. He will never start unless there is an injury and even then he does not look right for our system. Seems like a good kid

Indeed. The articles and sideline clips showed he's been encouraging for Brock, but now hesh got dual threat QBs all around him post-Kempt, with Purdy a freshman in front. If you have legit chance to start for a couple of years, take the chance and the change. Just like Kempt was odd man out with Oregon St years(!) ago.

He's injury away from playing. Why not finish out the season and continue to stay engaged and then transfer? Trying to think of this being an advantage for him in October.

More options starting now, begin practice in January?

Sorry to see him go (if true). Zeb was a great representative of ISU and a classy young man. He is very skilled, and I hope he finds a good fit for himself. Thanks for being a Cyclone Zeb.
He’s going to look a lot better in a different scheme.

I think it would have been better for both sides for him to wait until December.

It’s better for us if he finishes the season with the team, but I could understand him not wanting to risk injury. He knows he wants to transfer, ends in a game for mop up duties, takes an awkward tackle and then tears an ACL. Now his options become much more limited looking at a year in rehab.

Zeb has earned the right to do what’s best for him. Nothing but support and appreciation for all he’s done for ISU.
