***YMCA CCL Stats from 6-26***

After attending the CCL last night, I was definitely impressed with the players we have. It's been a while since we've had this many talented guys on the roster. Here are a few thoughts:

Clyburn really stood out to me, he just seemed to be scoring at will, and it got to the point where it looked like he couldn't miss anything. Hopefully he doesn't have any issues the next year, because he will be a real asset to the team once he can play.

Like many others mentioned, Royce didn't look like he was even trying, and still put up some great numbers. You can tell he's holding back, but still did a great job of passing and involving his team mates. I wouldn't be surprised to see him go off one game and put up 50+, just depends on what he wants to do.

Babb and Allen both looked pretty good as well. Both were shooting the three well, but could drive to the basket or dish when they needed to. I wouldn't be surprised to see Babb starting next year, his size will create some match up problems for opposing guards.

Really excited to see these guys play this season. I think we have plenty of talent, but how they mesh/play together will be the key to our success.

Clyburn was the best player out there tonight. Best performance I have seen so far, the kid could not miss.

I posted in another thread prior to this thread that based on limited viewing of Clyburn's video, I think he and White have the best chance of being drafted. (I was essentially agreeing with the original poster of the thread.)

His recent performance in CCL certainly doesn't diminish that assessment. Of course, it's all pie in the sky at this point until we've actually seen the players compete on the court against Big XII competition.

uh, clyburn played for utah last year - not b12 but not pie in the sky either. he put up 17 and 8 and shot 40% from three. he's going to be our version of wes johnson at syracuse.

White seems like a classic tweener in the NBA to me. Right team would be an issue with him. The right team could = a nice career.

Last night was my first time at the CCL, i was a little disappointed to not get the chance to see Scotty or Sledge. Clyburn was amazing though, he couldn't miss. Babb and Allen had a great battle going on. At one point, Allen had a nasty dunk that I really hope someone posts on here. Same situation for Royce, basically tore down the rim. I just feel bad for Ejim on that one :wideeyed: Royce was definitely playing it up to the crowd. Most fun guy to watch there. Don't worry about his point production though. He showed that he could score but he probably was wondering what the point was as the he was being guarded by Melvin. Not quite who will be on him during the season

I am aware of his numbers at Utah but they don't necessarily translate to NBA-level performance. I think by next year, we will be better able to assess whether he's at that level.

My statement "pie in the sky" was plural and directed to all of the players about whom we are currently speculating, hence my wording "the players.s Probably could have written it a bit more clearly though. Sorry for any confusion.

I think this is spot on. I've seen Clyburn play a couple of times now and he looks like Wes more and more, very long and lean. Very versitile basketball player who can fill up a stat sheet. I think he has a better outside shot than Wes. Not saying he'll be that good but I think it's a very good comparison.

I would agree with this. Clyburn seems like he's a little more polished shooter than Wes was and a little better ball-handling. I would say Wes was a more "bouncy" player. Defense is hard to compare with Clyburn at this point but Wes was great at coming from the weak side and using his length/athleticism to block and alter shots.

I am sure Wes would have absolutely thrived in a system like Fred's, hoping Clyburn will as well!

Last week, somebody who would know told me that Clyburn probably has the highest NBA upside of anybody on Iowa State's roster.

Was that person his mom, and if so, what are here credentials for NBA prospect evaluations?
My mom once told me I could be an astronaut. I've never flown in my life. She wasn't even close.

Maybe white will average a triple double.

I have been very impressed with the stats for all our players so far. It seems like they only improve as time goes on.

I love how RW is able to get over 10 assist a game if he continues it thorough out the season and is able to draw the double team it could allow for a lot of easy points for AB JR ME, he could even throw the ball to some one behind the 3 line. RW will help create a lot of points can't wait to see him in big 12 play!

I love the fact they Tyrus had 29 points, I think he will have great opportunities in his future, I just wish he put up as many assists as royce.

Babb and Allen seem to be shooting great from beyond the arc, I hope it continues because they could help silent a crowd when on the road if they hit as many 3 pointers as they are now.

I hope booker starts putting up more stats it would be nice if he could grab 10 boards a game, but otherwise he has put up a good amount of points per game.

I would comment on the other players but I don't feel like it. So I will say that they are all putting up nice stats and can't wait to see them play!

It always seems like there are 2-3 players that stand out each game, this will be great because if one person can't hit a shot during a game we have many others that are capable of doing so.

1st day it was Chris Babb - 29 points (7-14 from 3-pt range), 10 rebounds, 8 assists and 37 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals
2nd day it was Chris Allen - 42 points (7-18 from 3 pt range), 2 rebounds, 5 assists and Melvin Ejim - 35 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists and Royce White - 29 points, 16 rebounds, 13 assists
3rd day it was Melvin Ejim - 40 points, 21 rebounds and Will Clyburn - 41 points (8-11 from 3 pt. range), 7 rebounds and Tyrus McGee - 29 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist and
Royce White who had his second triple double - 20 points, 13 rebounds, 13 assists

This will be a fun year!!!
