Yearly Matt Campbell to ?? Thread

That would be interesting on what would happen if Anthony went home ... could happen. And I wouldn't blame Rocco. Good news is I like what I've seen from Moberley but yeah, that'd be a weird scenario.

Honestly, the only *as of today* college job that would IMO be interesting / dangerous would be UNC. Just because its a combination of an academic power 4 school with on paper at least better in state recruiting, money, and facilities / resources. Granted there's no real connection there, etc, but that would be the only open job as of today that I could see as even some weird snowball's chance in heck

The wheels are in motion:

My comment was more of a joke than anything else. It just amazes me how many fans like doomsday scenarios, even during a week when ISU is arguably playing its biggest game ever. This is the greatest time to be a cyclone fan: football team is playing for their first conference title in 112 years, mens basketball looks to be a final 4 contending team. and the womens basketball squad has lots of promise. And the men's basketball team is hosting a top 15 opponent this week. I get we are used to being kicked in the nuts, but these moments don't come around very often. I am going to enjoy this week and not fret about things that may or may not happen.

In regards to the USC rumor, I was on vacation in Anna Maria Island a couple summers ago.
Wearing ISU, someone came up to me and said "we almost got your coach." I 100% assumed they were a FSU fan. They said USC (and they are a booster). They said Campbell flew out for interview, then had wife come and she's the one that shot it down.
Remember, he was content at the time in Toledo but she made him listen to Pollard. She has also had house remodeled/worked on.
I think if he ever leaves, her voice is absolutely critical in that decision.
Bet the USC job was this:

Or translation: Ericka was going to murder me if we moved to LA.
having visited LA and it is horrible. And this isn't coming from some bumpkin who's never seen a druggie or a homeless guy before, I live IN Chicago (Avondale/Logan Square for those who know). LA is basically the worst parts of suburban living at 198273412 times the cost combined with all the downsides of living in the center of a big city, and none of the upsides.

Chicago is my favorite place on Earth...but LA has the ocean...and the mountains...and a ton of entertaining things to do! Yeah...expensive but that fits pretty much any destination right now. I get that what someone enjoys in life is relative to another...but horrible has never crossed my mind in the many times I have been fortunate to have visited SoCal.

I frequently mock small town people who fear cities, but LA is my least favorite place I've ever visited. All you do there is sit, wait, and pay out the nose for everything.

The beach in LA/Santa Monica was gross. The nicest part was definitely the Griffith Observatory and the surrounding park but the rest of it was a completely underwhelming large city. Not much unique in terms of things to relative to Chicago, imo.
I'm sure Malibu or other similar 0.1%er places are nice but I didn't visit those

SoCal is the greatest place in America. In almost 20 years I never ran out of things to do or places to see. Cool people. Great weather. Great lifestyle

Chicago could burn to the ground tomorrow and I'd help throw gas on the fire.

LA has issues. It isn't perfect, but a wealthy head coach isn't going to have the same daily headaches as a typical bloke.

Saw some comments on social media posts over the weekend were some Hawk fans were saying they need to make a call to Campbell after Ferentz is gone. LOL, some of them were probably laughing at how he couldn't beat Iowa not long ago now want to steal him away from ISU.

Matt Campbell could very well leave ISU. 0% chance he leaves ISU to go to Iowa City. 0.

I felt the same way about the Nebraska opening too a couple years back when his name was floated.

Malibu seems pointless to visit unless you want to rent out a house on the beach for $$$$$. This comes from 1 experience driving through there and stopping for gas so take it with a grain of salt. I don't mind LA but San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and San Diego are all higher on the list to revisit.

I'm no expert on the topic, but in my experience its rare to hear somebody that raves about a trip to LA (work or vacation), however it seems common to hear people who live there/have lived there be much more positive about LA.
