Xzavion Mitchell is officially returning

Looking back, part of the shock being so big was that Naz wen't off for like 7 or 8 3's in an exhibition or the first game of the season. It was really a "Where did this come from?!" situation like you said. He pretty much ended up being a really good shooter from then on. Another similarity is there was talk of Mitchell leaving and it was the same for Naz. After the fact, Naz and Niang told the story like Naz was ready to leave and Niang helped talk him into staying. Naz then went to work and the rest is history. Here's to Mitchell having a similar story!
IIRC, Naz was playing primarily PG his freshman year, which may not have been the best use of his skillset.

I'm having a hard time picturing Mitchell getting significant minutes with all the depth we have. If he gets 10+ minutes per game then either one of the transfers isn't as good as we hoped, or Mitchell worked really hard and made big improvements in his game. Either way we are gonna have a damn good team.
I think the improvement needed to come on the defensive end. Anyone who averages 21 ppg for all four years of high school and 35 ppg as a senior doesn't need much improvement on offense. He was the third best scorer all time in Wisconsin high school history.

I would also say a much better shot creator, potential big time explosive scorer - Averaged 35 and 9 as a senior. Really depends what kind of weight he puts on and how his ball handling develops.

What kind of weight he puts on? Hopefully he doesn't put on any. In his very limited time last year he looked slow. Hopefully his off season workout was to improve his quickness and tone up.

One thing I always appreciate about cyclone fans is their ability to get behind players who work their butts off. Mitchell seems to be that type of player

better not watch the video or read TJ's quotes.

The 'he needs to bulk up' thing for players imo is pretty misguided most of the time.

Get stronger and like you said quickness/footwork etc is the way.

I think he was battling an injury for most of last season.

Sure, I just meant what's the development plan for him as a senior - downhill Ejim bully post guy or more guard oriented skillset. He did a bit of both in high school, looked like he had a great stroke last year, but I don't know the vision TJ has for him

Terrence Lewis could be a decent comp here

He’s always going to be slow for a wing

If he’s also too small to play in the frontcourt, he won’t get PT here

Could be true regardless
