Xzavion Mitchell is officially returning

What we’ve all been waiting and wondering , TJ clearly has a plan to utilize him, which is a great sign that he can be impactful! Wasn’t he the strongest freshman before his injury?

Hopefully he makes a leap in the off-season and makes it hard for TJ to keep him on the bench. IIRC, he was one of our highest rated recruits out of HS. A tall *guard that can match up against a 3 would be nice to have if he can prove it on the court.

I like the "betting on me" part of his tweet. Give me a talented player with a a chip on their shoulder to root for.

*EDIT: Not a guard

He's not a tall guard. Or...wasn't in HS or last year.

Guard?

If Mitchell wasn't injured, would he have been a contributor last season? In the limited time he played, he looked like he could shoot it well.

So TJ tells Xzavion... look, you're gonna be a sophomore and Prather is gonna be a senior but you're in direct competition with him for minutes. You already know the offense, you already know the rotations. Can you score and defend better than this new guy that is similar to you athletically? If you can't crack the top 10 then you should be in the driver's seat your junior year. What do you say kid?

I got a feeling Xzavion is gonna be in the gym 24/7 this off-season and might even be the new Milan right up there with Jamarion. They got the blueprints...

He wasn't getting minutes even before injury. I'm happy he's returning. I expect him to apply for a medical redshirt, which won't matter if the "5 years to play 5 seasons" becomes the rule. How he fits in will be interesting to see.
