That’s why we really need an organized effort to funnel money to these kids. We should be the most aggressive school in the conference on this, there should be multiple full time employees dedicated to nothing but funding and setting up NIL deals. Whoever capitalizes on this first is going to have a huge advantage over other schools.

I think there's a ton of truth to your entire statement. Got to believe our AD is working on it and reaching out to the right boosters, but I haven't heard even a peep about any NIL deals, which is concerning. Hope that changes soon and we receive confirmation that there are good NIL deals out there. If not, the AD needs to have been working on it yesterday. I think the perception of good NIL deals will also likely drive recruits and (correct me if I'm wrong) I don't hear of any.

It's a whole new world out there! The early adopters can help position themselves better.

The growth demographics were setup largely before JP. He's has not done enough to capitalize on that, although he has benefitted from it. He hasn't changed the fan culture like he spoke about when starting at ISU. Has ISU closed the gap with peer institutions in terms of donations, despite there being the largest ISU community ever?
Bruce!!!!!

I disagree. ISU and Pollard have worked hard to develop the booster pool. Our problem is that our pool is only 3 feet deep, compared to people like Texas swimming in the deep end.
He hasn't done much despite the demographic growth. It is against his ethos. He is a bean counter, and one that primarily eschews the donor influence of big money athletics. In some ways that is why he is a good fit- ISU fans are historically cheap, let the AD take care of things type. JP's brand and value is dependent on the notion ISU fans are cheap and that it can't be changed. Is it hard to change that? Absolutely, but that is his primary job and mission when hired.

The comparison isn't to the top of the top in Texas. It is about 20-30 other similar institutions we are competing against to stay in major college athletics.

The university of Texas just guaranteed any offensive lineman $250K if they sit on the bench for 5 years they will still have that money to leave school with.

Of course they will push people out the door, but that’s what they are offering kids to sign there to play o line.
I believe the UofT is offering amount similar to ISU, as agreed upon by the B12. This is a private entity offering the $50K per year.

Thank you. I was speaking more in the context of ut football as a monolith.

no kid will get that money unless a lot of people outside of the football program sign off on it.

You think dim witted Bruce did anything? It was awful under him, our total AD was 27MM or so when he left. This year we are right at 100MM with about 30MM of the gain coming from TV rights. That means he has increased donations and ticket sales around 40MM. We were dead last under Bruce in the big 12 for AD income. Last time I checked we were with 6 or7th. JP has started to get the wheels going after getting the car out of the ditch that we were in.

what do you know?

Other than 3 friends from the service who graduated from there many many years ago, and that it’s only that it’s the only show in town in Orlando, and they huge and wealthy alumni base that is dying to be in a p5 conference, and that the move up in conference affiliation gives them access to talent in the state of Florida they never had before,

i guess not that much other than I’ve been to a handful of games there

Just curious, what are the other B12 schools not named Texas offering in the way of privately funded NILs? It would be interesting to know what the competition is doing.

it will be gross. But giving Brock, Breece, and Mike a sectional couch for their apartment, isn’t even close to being a starting point

I wonder if he and others are worried about CMC not being here not more than a year or two. Love MC, but I wish he would pull a Tucker and just come out and claim ISU is his place he wants to be. VT and KSU are similar programs, one fo the things that made them sustainable is recruits knew they were where they wanted to be.
Nope
Just someone buying him off with NIL money.

it’s only the beginning

Imagine trying to be a coach that can’t dangle 100s. I hate the current environment so much, it’s a real reversal of the previous but still hard

Recruiting is a crapshoot when dealing with young kids that are easily manipulated by shrewd coaches and assistant coaches! I was really looking forward to watching XT bummer! In XT case might have been more of family wanting him closer to home!

I'm guessing it will be NIL money. We shall see when he signs with his new team. Maybe he is getting some of that TheeOSU money that is open after that freshman QB(?) didn't pan out.
