I knew NIL would have a chance to kill us. The whole thing was rolled out with zero regulations, rules, limits, etc. It should have been capped or a standard stipend per player or something like that. **** all the people who kept saying this would be great for the sport. The rich getting richer is all this was and why so many of the big players were all for it.
The rich get richer? He's going to UCF. This isn't NLI.

Was there any doubt that Campbell coaching rumors would make recruiting more difficult? In this case, this kid now has a local Big 12 team to join that just finished 8-4.

Geography prohibits Iowa State from keeping up with B12 foes in recruiting, only way that would ever change would be joining the B1G West which isn’t happening. UCF joining the conference will make it tougher to grab 3 star Florida kids.

yawn. When people are getting $50k just to be a Offensive lineman, ISU's "student athlete academic incentive plan" is about 1000 steps behind the times.
Unfortunately, unlike the transfer soap box, JP being late to the game is really a setback here. It was going to be tough enough as it is, but JP being JP didn't help.

He also hasn't done much in 15+ years to improve the booster pool, despite it being the best ever time in Iowa St history for that to grow. You have to be willing to give up some power imo. He is much more comfortable accepting less with more while be unchallenged. He prefers the college athletics of last century imo, well, accept for the part in which ADs are now making $1+ million.

This is clueless.

Again, I agree and feel like everyone wants to debate what I post. My point was that a “private” FB only club exists. They are updating their
board of directors. Might be a good time to reevaluate their mission and engage fans, donors and the AD differently.

Our donor base is only part of the issue, it’s the non-donors that are another problem. Many members here don’t donate. Some of those same people are losing their @&#$ in this thread.

The university of Texas just guaranteed any offensive lineman $250K if they sit on the bench for 5 years they will still have that money to leave school with.

Of course they will push people out the door, but that’s what they are offering kids to sign there to play o line.

We’re going to be more disadvantaged from the top of college football than we were in the 90s aren’t we. Guess NIL will ruin things for many other schools. Not sure college athletics will be any fun to follow in 10 years.

Wait til you see tv money.

I disagree. ISU and Pollard have worked hard to develop the booster pool. Our problem is that our pool is only 3 feet deep, compared to people like Texas swimming in the deep end.

And very new. People don’t just $1MM the first season or if 100k gets them the same pull.

The growth demographics were setup largely before JP. He's has not done enough to capitalize on that, although he has benefitted from it. He hasn't changed the fan culture like he spoke about when starting at ISU. Has ISU closed the gap with peer institutions in terms of donations, despite there being the largest ISU community ever?
