Diversant looked really good. Seems like it’s his to lose. Grice and Mesa is basically a tossup, which says to me in 3 months as season progresses that Meza will take control of that matchup. But also that there is no need to start him now.

Many looked good. We’re going to have a very solid wrestler at 165 this year whoever it is.

Hockman is going to be tough.

Carroll did not look good. Low energy.

Bartelt impressed me.

Honestly not a fan of the way the coaches handled the 2 of 3. If they thought a specific matchup needed 2/3 they should have said so before time. If the guy they wanted to win lost, they made it a 2/3. Little bit of favoritism rather than a fair competition. It doesn’t matter at all, just I don’t like it. My opinion.

So who won meza v grice. I saw meza won the first and then maybe grice, so do they do a third match then?

My first time ever going to wrestle offs, was really fun. A few observations I had.

125: Diversant looks extremely tough, I don't think Perryman is a great test but he dominated him in neutral and bottom, didn't attempt to ride much that I recall. Meza also looked great, super impressed with him as a true freshman because he really dominated Grice that first matchup. Grice didn't look bad but hard to see him being the guy for anything beyond this year (at most).

133: Terukina didn't really impress, beat Giomo decently I think but nothing stood out to me as saying he would challenge Frost for the spot.

141-157: I don't even remember if there were matches for these weights.

165: Rojas looked super tough, hard to gauge his competition here but will be very curious to see who ends up coming out of that group of Euton, Gaitan, Rojas.

174: Think this one got scratched? Unfortunate as I wanted to see Riggins, but should get to see him vs Naakt in a couple weeks I guess.

184: Bockman dominated, looked big for the weight. Hard to see any of the other guys there competing too much with him.

197: Probably the most disappointing one of the day was Carroll. Pretty dominant but not as dominant as you would like to see for the hype. I heard some wrestlers from the team/RTC talking and they said he was 20 pounds overweight yesterday. So not great to hear from a weight management perspective. Doesn't change how excited I am to see him wrestle and it just seems like a typical freshman/first time making weight thing to do. Just hope it's not a sign of problems to come with being at this weight.

285: Herrara looked good, hard to see him challenging Bastida but will be excited to watch regardless as Herrara looks big.

As a still fairly dumb wrestling fan. If guys were not in wrestle offs safe to say they don’t have a chance at making the lineup?

No there are several guys who have injuries right now who would be expected to be the starters potentially somewhere. Johnson, chittum, gaitan, etc.

When Carroll goes, he’s hard to stop. Need to keep getting the okie state mentality out of him and get him to a place where he’s willing to let it fly.

First time down to weight for a lot of these guys too, not sure if he had a tough cut or not but wrestle offs are usually hard to take much out of
Everyone needs to listen to Stu. He’s dialed in to the situation. CC will be fine.

Most interesting 'Finals' matches for me will be:
65- Euton/Rojas/Gaitan
84- Bockman/Carlucci
97- Carroll/Bartelt
Gaitan not on the brackets so I assume he's dealing with something. Euton/rojas should be interesting.
I assume chittum, johnson, gaitan wrestle offs will be later and not public which is a bummer. Anyone have etas for these guys return?

Not exactly sure.
I'm surprised nobody is giving Caleb Helgeson any love. He looked great imo. I think Bockman will have his hands within Caleb and we haven't seen Nando yet. I'm looking forward to seeing Nando too.
I hope he doesn’t have his hands within him. Urban Meyer might like checking oil, but it’s not my thing.

KD said Gaitan has a minor knee injury , should be ready for the 2nd round

Link to results and “updated brackets.” With the numerous injuries, the 125 wrestle-off was the only one with potential insight into our line-up. 141, 149, 157, 165 and 174 are also still seemingly unsettled.
