Ya but what about the Roman Empire? Is that strange to think about?
Well, in recent weeks I've read William Manchester's book, 'A World Lit Only by FIre: The Medieval Mind and the Renaissance'.
Manchester began by exploring recent human history to describe our present day (including Rome; 2500 years ago is a drop in the bucket in time for human development) that led to the Middle Ages. Really, fascinating stuff.
Today, I can see it. We are a product of our recent history, not distant events buried in prehistory. So, for me, CMC's mission to educate young men is a marvelous goal. Better than the Spartan creed, for example. . . .
