Would you be mad?

Its comical the amount of people that think hoiberg would leave anytime soon and makes me think you are bandwagoners who dont know his background with ames, his family, and history of playing at iowa state. His biggest accomplishment is only a big12 tourny title and sweet 16. Do you think he would leave without accomplishing bigger things and without leaving a bigger isu mark on the basketball map with the chance of flopping in the nba with a weak short term contract compared to his roughly 2.6m lifetime contract at isu which will only increase with time? /thread

If Fred leaves in the next year or two it just reiterates why Johnny Orr is the most revered coach to be at ISU. He is set apart from all others because he was a big time coach that decided to COME to ISU and STAY. That's why he was loved so much by the ISU community...the big wins he had were nice but he thought of ISU as a destination. Not a launching pad to something "better".

I'd be more mad at Flip Saunders if they're still pursuing Fred. Why? Because he was quoted as saying "it's not going to happen, the timing isn't right". (or something like that) . Plus, the signing of the new contract as if to say I appreciate the support, the raise, the faith, and yes, this is a special place. Now, do coaches sign new contracts and still leave quickly? Sure. But I would hope he gives it a few more years than that, if not his entire career. But I'm not expecting we could be that fortunate. Places like Duke and Mich.St are very fortunate. Seems as if Coach K and Coach Izzo will never leave.

This exactly. This talking in a circle about something that won't be happening any time soon is nauseating and stupid.

1. This thread isn't about Hoiberg leaving, its about how you would FEEL if he did.

2. Just as comical are the people 100% convinced he would never leave.

Fred's leaving! Burn down your house and start riots! This program is going to hell!

In all seriousness, give it a damn rest with this garbage. He's still here and put us on the right path to become an elite program. Let's only worry about it if it actually happens. Until it does, he's our coach.

I would cry, no joke, and I also would cry after his retirement press conference when he decides to retire at the age of 65 and after 4 national titles.

What if Fred started sucking? hah yeah never mind that was really dumb to say.

Also I would feel how I felt when Georges broke his foot X 1000000000000000000 if Fred left.

@TravisHines21: Fred Hoiberg met the media tonight at Coaches vs. Cancer event and fielded lots of NBA questions. Answer remained the same: Happy at ISU.

Fred. Is. Not. Leaving. For. Several. Years.

And no, I wouldn't be mad but he would be making a huge mistake. The 2015-2016 season is looking like a year to make a serious run in the conference and the NCAA tournament.

Why leave a program that he's built from the ground up to go to the nba to a struggling program and get canned after 2-3 years just because he doesn't have the players or the GM to help him win.

My biggest fear in him leaving is we'd get Pitino'd and see him coaching at KU or something like that after the NBA revolving coaching door spits him out.

Tough question, mad yes....but not at fred because itd be a selfish mad. Should he stay yes and theres a million reasons why.....If im fred though I cant think of many reasons to leave though either to be honest....he has a wet dream going on in ames....just my opinion

Furious.

ISU took a massive chance on him, and were paying him more than he could ever spend, and he's shown he could likely take ISU to unprecedented heights.

He doesn't owe us a damn thing, but I'd still be livid if he left now. The good news is that it's not happening.
