Words Have Power

Was the last sentence supposed to be funny or serious?

They should know better than to make physical mistakes that come with playing the sport of football. After all, none of us would miss an open receiver while being chased by some D-lineman who's 8 months away from being a millionaire, or fumble the ball after being hit by a 240 pound linebacker who runs a 4.5 40. We know better.

I've liked the way that most threads have stayed away from directly criticizing players for the most part. Cyclone fans generally have a different view of sports than a lot of the other P5, and some G5, schools fan bases.

If an athlete thinks CF is rough on them they may want to venture over to the boards of teams like iowa, texas, lsu, georgia, etc...

If I were Pride I'd cry about it.

DON'T CARE

It's a double edged sword...most of these players have twitter accounts where they brag about themselves like they're the next first round draft pick...if you're going to do that, prepare to be called out on it. Social media cuts both ways...and if we have a kid who is too sensitive about whats on the internet, maybe he should be spending more time in the film room, classroom and practice field than on CF.

IMO, stating that a player isn't getting it done is ok. Name calling and attacking are very different. I don't see that here...so unsure what this player is referring to.

I agree. I mostly cringe when the experts on here say something like "He's not what we want, we want (insert other recruit name here)." Imagine the recruit reading that and thinking, "WTF, I guess I'll go somewhere else, then." And maybe he's the top want of the coaches.

Does ISU need a "safe space" for our football girls?

Earlier this morning I was talking to a former football player and he noticed me browsing on Cyclone Fanatic. One of the things he said that a lot of the players actually read what people on this site are saying, or at least they are told what the buzz is around the site. I won't name who but a very important player on this team was on the verge of quiting because of the things that are being said and the fan attitudes around him. Just remember, these kids are 18-22 years old. We have know idea what any of them are going through and we should try to keep things as positive as they can be, no matter how ugly things can get. So the next time you're about to ridicule a player for a play, or a game just remember your words have power.
Jeez, Now if we could only get the coaches to read the posts.

I don't have a problem with people complaining here, as that's kinda the point of the site. I don't like chowderheads who directly talk smack on twitter or facebook to players. THAT is bullcrap.

Well, I mean, it's pretty ridiculous that they are doing that kind of stuff when they know they shouldn't.

If I was a player I'd read this place for the comedy value as it relates to football.
