He is a steadying force for this Nuggets roster. Doesn't look like it is a real fun experience unfortunately.

These games are fun to see guys get their shot, but man it's always a lot of selfishness and ego.

I was curious what Kelsey Plum’s salary is this year given her comments at the All Star game. She is making $202,000 this year. The top salary is about $252,000. The league minimum is just over $66,000 and the average salary is about $102,000. The regular season is 17 weeks long and has 44 games. I’m still forming an opinion.

Given the valuation of new teams and current teams, I think they’ve probably fallen behind.

Without really knowing any details about the financials of the league, it seems to me that the league minimum is too low. Plum’s contract doesn’t seem out of line to me at this stage of where the league is at. The rookie contracts may not make sense for this league like other leagues since the younger stars seem to have as much or more value than the veterans. I could see possible drama coming within the players association. It is going to be hard to make all the players happy. I doubt someone like Reese is going to be happy making rookie money the next two years and I doubt the veterans will want someone like Clark to get paid her relative value.

I had heard the WNBA is still running in the red, if this is true I have a hard time with the pay us what we are worth shirts. Didn't hear Plum 's comments. Did laugh at the one announcer woman who said this game is like a girls trip to Cabo no D. That made me laugh.

I think it's an impossibly hard position for the WNBA to be in. The bubble hasn't completely burst, but that initial surge of popularity when CC joined seems to be dwindling. As much as we like to bash on her, she is that league. Kelsey Plum and Sabrina Ionescu and Breanna Stewart all existed before CC and no one gave a ****. And I think as more people have realized what a bad product it is and are turned off by all the in-fighting that initial CC surge is going away.

So yes, I imagine their financials look better now but how much of it is fool's gold? And based on that, how much can you commit going forward? I know Paige is popular, and I know Juju will be coming before too long, but I still think you have a league that's teetering on the verge of going back to a more realistic level of popularity, and that's got to make negotiations hard.

I like it, I started watching last year but I still like it this year with Clark mostly out. I’m not passionate about it though. NFL players and UFC fighters are frequently soap opera insane drama queens too, it probably increases viewership.

Here’s the thing. These are the sports I’m passionate about:

NCAA football (all teams)
NBA regular season but especially playoffs
Cyclone mbb and wbb
Euro soccer (mostly just my team)
World Cup Soccer (all teams)

Notice the WNBA fits right in there between that game 7 nba finals and ISU’s Ireland fb game?

Unless someone is passionate about regular season mlb, they are in the ultimate sweet spot if someone loves basketball and doesn’t like baseball.

It’s pretty difficult to trust what is said about running in red though. This is the NBA and they’re notorious for it around negotiation time.

The WNBA players need some better leadership and a better unified positive message. They have a great opportunity to continue to grow their sport but they often come across as petty and bitter. I watched a lot of games last year for the first time, but I have watched less this year mostly because of TV blackouts on my new streaming plan. Like you said, they have little competition right now. There is opportunity. I personally thought the whole t-shirt deal at the All Star game was an unnecessary risk that might actually hurt fan support.

If it's true that the WNBA's players get 9% of revenue that's laughably bad. The NBA had better be careful or they'll **** around and find out when another league takes all of the W's best players.
