Wizards sign Gilbert

Did you watch him play the 2nd half of last season? He was shell of himself and was visibly frustrated every single game when he was unable to do the things he had previously been able to do.

People should just go watch the Auburn game, and then any game after February.

Just completely different guys.

Even with our "slower" bigs, I believe we would have been an Elite 8 team at the bare minimum had our entire team been healthy. We were a shell of our early season selves by the time February hit. Keshon's season was a microcosm of the team's season.

CW and Blum did allude to it being purely injury related for why Gilbert’s ISU career ended the way it did.

I do not think they would lie to us. I’m also not entirely sure they’re going to be totally transparent with us (that’s not a knock, they probably just can’t say everything)

Good grief. We have a hype thread for Gilbert and his nice performance the other night, and then all these posters who know LITERALLY nothing claiming there is a conspiracy regarding the injury and Blum/CW are in on it.

Some of you need to take off the foil hat every once in a while.

Can we close this thread yet?

agreed - people will literally come up with every conspiracy under the sun instead of the most logical, reasonable one - that Gilbert was injured for much of the conference year, so injured he was basically ruled out for the tournaments, and since he was going pro he decided to shift his focus on resting and rehabing his body for that.

and I don't know where people are getting this idea that they're lying to themselves about "well, players continue sticking with the team when they've declared they're going pro..." no, they don't. they start doing the things to prepare themselves for going pro - they don't have time to hang around the team anymore.

Based on some of the reactions to my earlier post, you can see who’s who. Pretty telling

Worst case possible scenario:

- Clear to anyone: Gilbert played hurt/wasn't the same because of it and sat because of that in the latter part of ISU regular season/conf tourney.

- He possibly could have played through it (at personal risk) in the NCAA tournament.

- Idk if it was necessarily him (I'd like to think it wasn't him directly) or someone in his camp/family made a request involving more NIL.

- ISU & our bball program was NEVER going to entertain that type of talk. Not how ISU operates.

- Blum & CW along with anyone associated on either side of this equation (as it is in all parties best interests) would never discuss it and must deny it (or it was kept hidden to anyone in media or not immediately involved in it.)

- End of the day...it's over, best of luck to him and ISU going forward. It's honestly not that big of deal to me, as it really isn't to ISU. It's just the nature of college athletics in 2025. All these stud bball players get paid now. Employees ask for more money all the time for performance. We all should just move on.

Fans did pay for him to play here. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect answers in this day and age. If you're gonna take 6-7 figures, expect to be held accountable to those paying you that money.

I didn't see the whole game, but the dude didn't have a single point against Miss St tonight. What a bum! :jimlad:

I just don't really get it. We got an answer from CW and Blum. He was injured and the staff wanted him to play through it, and he didn't want to play through it. What else do people need to know? That seems pretty self explanatory to me.
