Wisconsin AD Leaving.

A chance to be in the Big Ten instead of the financially challenged Big 12?
He’d have to take the call.
He may take the call, but why would someone want to take on a new job at his age? Without a doubt he wants to see Cytown finished and up and running. Unless he has a hankering for a new challenge, I would be shocked if he took the job if offered.

I’m sure he wants to see CyTown through, and we shouldn’t forget he’s had some serious health issues during his tenure. I’d be surprised if he took a job like Wisconsin at his age.

AD JP is going to retire a Cyclone.

This thread does make me wonder who would be likely replacements for him though when he calls it a career.

I've definitely disagreed with Pollard on a few subjects, but I recognize what a giant net positive he has been as AD (some people really forgot or are too young to remember our "leadership" before him.)

Our next AD hire will be very important in the new modern game of college athletics.

Perfectly well said.

Oh boy, were there some bad ones. Jamie has set the bar really high for the next person.

Absolutely. He's not the perfect AD, and I haven't agreed with him on a number of issues (stubbornly refusing to sell alcohol, aspects of the athletic identity and branding (even though that has been a net positive), etc). Not to mention he's had a number of misses when it comes to head coaches... but overall the AD is in a FAR better place than when he took it over 20ish years ago now, and he has navigated the changing landscape of college athletics far better than a number of other ADs would have, including a number of our peers (anyone see what's gone on at KU, K-State, OSU, and Baylor the last 5+ years?). And this idea that ISU athletics will somehow be in this magical place once JP is out is likely extremely laughable - there is a very significant chance that once JP finally does retire ISU athletics goes into a decline - one we may never be able to pull ourselves out of considering the current state of college athletics.

I had come around to the selling of alcohol. Went to the concert Saturday and if a game is anything like that, I will be fine but a younger kid or smaller female may struggle shoving through the beer herds.

Big move for the conference office. Wisconsin usually has a lot of stability in their leadership, so this is definitely going to cause some waves in Madison.

McIntosh was dog **** at his job so this will be a win for Wisconsin. That's of course assuming they don't let Barry Alvarez hand pick the new AD again.

If this were 10-15 years ago this would be a more interesting story. I think JP is way too close to retirement at this point.

I would say it will take JP retiring and the next AD sinking ISU athletics for people to realize what we had in JP as an AD, but it's more likely these clowns will lay the blame on JP for the sinking of athletics. It's these same kinds of idiots I see saying the problem is JP runs the AD "like an accountant", not realizing 1. JP IS an accountant, and 2. what's he supposed to do - rack up hundreds of millions of dollars in debt just to get the same results with the tight ship he is running?

He's on the ISU athletics mount rushmore whether you like him or not. A lot of the people complaining about him forget just how damn far behind we were 20 years ago.
