Maybe I'm the exception but I'd rather watch us win games at home with a lighter schedule of lesser opponents than play the Texas' and Oklahoma's repeatedly. We will be favored in EVERY home game this year, most by 2 scores. People would rather watch us get beat (most of the time) by Texas and Oklahoma than watch us beat Baylor and Texas Tech? Not me.
To be fair, we've beaten Texas 3/5 times in Ames.

This really is a non issue. ISU fans consistently support their teams better than 90% of the rest of the country.

If that level of support is no longer enough to survive in this climate of greed today.. then so be it. NOBODY can complain about the support that this fan base puts forth year in and year out.

In isolation, I'd rather watch us play Texas or Oklahoma, but with the New Big XII, we have a lot better chance of playing for a conference title or a playoff spot. That makes the games a lot more compelling.

Its amazing ISU has the level of support we do for football when you consider how crappy the product as been on the field over the past 40 years or so and that we have another instate school that has nothing but success over that time span.

We purchased our season tickets when they were $99 in the south end zone bleachers, started with 4 up that to 6 and now are back to 4. We are in a non donation sector, plan on keeping the tickets at least through next season, if they continue winning after that, we might keep them.

10 people not renewing their season tickets is not an impact it's definitely factored in that there will be "x" amount of people who drop per year and "x" amount of people who will decide they want to step up and buy season tickets who did not previously have them. Also, I'll be an ass and say it.. If you dropped your season tickets for the SOLE REASON we lost to Ohio in the third game of the year and then lost to a solid Memphis team in Memphis in a bowl game, you're not a true fan. Should we have won those games? Certainly. I'm not even going to bother throwing in an excuse. But to base your reasoning on that is incredibly irrational and fair weathered.

I bet you the number of people who did that is incredibly small. Now, those who've stated they didn't renew due to other reasons, whether that be lifestyle choice, money, time, etc, that's fine. Those are very reasonable decisions and no one should fault them for choosing to make that decision. I mean, just take a look through this thread and although some are arguing that some people might've chosen to drop them because of those losses, no one here has actually said they have. They've given other solid reasons.

Hell, you remember the ISU fan calling for Campbell's head who went viral on social media? I saw him the first game of the year. Lol
lmao

Programs that win more games, and thus have more hype, sell more tickets. Particularly season tickets

Having two more wins last year, and the corresponding hype, would have made a measurable difference on whether the Baylor game was sold out at the time of CW’s podcast.

JFC, it’s not complicated. Imagine thinking ticket sales the next year are inelastic to the difference between 7 and 9 wins, and the corresponding PR

So 10 people is an impact to you? Fully realizing that’s a made up number without proof I tossed out there. But the point is very few people will not get season tickets or attend games because we lost to a G5 school the year before.

You actually listed out a couple of big factors in your post. TV experience at home is phenomenal, especially if you want to keep track/watch other college football games. Kids make going to a game hard and it’s more expensive.

Your statement was just wrong about G5 teams but you keep digging in.
1 person is an impact to me. Like I said, I'm not arguing the impact is substantial.

The Texas game last year sold out so I guess people had a pretty short memory about the start of the season but this season is thrown by the wayside with a bunch of that fairly successful team back.

Checks out.

I think the Op's analysis was excellent that the Iowa game has a big influence on season ticket sales so this years season ticket sales should be compared to other even years. I believe also that there was a feeling last year that the bloom had faded from the Campbell rose. Predictions were for a midpack conference finish.

I think the Iowa game has a huge influence on sales and agree with the OP. I think there was that feeling after the Ohio game but I never got that feeling as the year went on, winning 4 straight away games and capping off the year beating a top-20 KSU team. I was just as disappointed as everyone else in the Memphis performance but I'm not going to look at that game in a vacuum and negate everything else, especially in a rebuilding year.

And if we win tomorrow we're looking at something we haven't done since 1980, which then shows that last year was truly a rebuilding year and preparing these guys for what's in front of them this year. Idk, I'm an optimist so that could definitely throw things out of perspective, but I looked at last season as a whole as a success with some missed opportunities. Again, all things considered, we were one game away from making the Big 12 title game.

Don’t worry, we can always talk about fans not being back in their seats at 2nd half kick or that people are inside the SEZ instead of baking in the 90 degree heat!

There's always complaining about ISU getting called for penalties they actually committed.

Funny all the wasted time people had thinking the game wouldn’t sell out
