Chris Williams and Brent Blum recap what has been a crazy 10 days in college athletics. How the quarterback situation at Tennessee from Saturday could impact the entire landscape. Is Iowa State’s men’s basketball team done in the portal? All of this and more, presented by our friends at Mechdyne.

I really wonder who CW is referring to when he said (around 46:40), "He's a bit of a scapegoat. One could make an argument ... that we had a guy on campus a couple of weeks ago who did the same thing;" concerning someone demanding money.

Did you miss all of the stuff about Jefferson?

If the 'scapegoat' thing is referring to the TN situation I'm not sure if I see it as the same thing since TN's was during spring ball vs. just after the season.

The state doesn't care about rural Iowa? Maybe time to cut back on the Cody Road.
His point was relevant in his example; state most certainly doesn't want a ton of small schools. Its nothing to them to combine several small school willy nilly

Great podcast. I can't believe we get so much info and honest perspective . . . and not even as a premium service. It is almost like hanging out with them at the RV Village or Welch Avenue Station. We are so blessed to have Williams & Blum in their roles.

So if amounts less than $600 will not be policed, how hard would it be to set up large amounts of deals at $599? Signing books or recording personalized videos or whatever?

Not anytime soon. We have pretty much hit our hoops NIL cap.

Equated it to stock market at all time high. Felt the inference is we will wait until market lowers. And if it does we could sign another kid.
Yeah…. I wonder what we’re giving Jefferson?? Sounds like we pretty much emptied the entire NIL account for him, so until the fans and donors start emptying their pockets some more, we won’t be making any other additions.

Such a depressing state of affairs for my favorite two sports (college football and basketball). The meteoric rise of huge money generation was totally mismanaged. Just too greedy and disorganized to recognize the wall that they were inevitably going to hit.

Should have dropped their objections/restrictions to actual NIL at least a decade ago if not more.

Also, can you imagine being Blum and working your ass off through all that stress and having totally uninformed message board warriors dumping on you through it all?

I was half listening to the podcast, but I also inferred we might have also upped Lipsey & Momcilovic.

What even worse is the fundraising goal keeps growing exponentially. And they have to keep going back to the same donors asking for more money. Just after they asked for more money.

I love college sports and understand all the flaws of the old/current system. But I'd like to go back to when athletes just got a scholarship AND athletic departments were scrounging for money.
