Will Prohm ever win a championship?

I'll give you we were lacking depth, but we have depth this year and he doesn't use it, what makes you think we would have went 8 or 9 deep that year if we even had the option?

Also, that 16-17 team was most certainly capable of missing the tourney that year, they were 13-8, staring at 13-9 heading to Lawrence until Solomon finally got playing time and Jackson saved their season by nailing that dagger.

They may have still been a play-in game or an 11 seed type of team if they continued on that pace and got bounced right away in the Big 12 tourney. Lets not pretend nobody was worried on 1-31 of that year.

You can't be serious with this ****. Capable of missing the tournament? Get out of here.

Yeah, because programs with #3 seeds in consecutive years have no shot whatsoever of making a Final Four anytime soon with the same coach and that coaches ability to pull in top talent.

You're a complete idiot if you didnt think this program had any shot of making a Final Four with Hoiberg. I even remember experts picking us as trendy Final 4 picks, but you know more than experts right?

Wait, that team that lost to uab was a trendy pick for the final four?

They definitely didn’t underachieve the

You're a complete idiot if you think he would have just stopped getting top transfers because it was harder all of a sudden. There is a reason he was getting them in the first place, I'll let you and JSB figure it out since you both are so simple minded.

Once everyone else was going after them, it would have turned out the same as high level high school guys did.

It didn't act like a Hoiberg team because that team finished 10-8, if it were a typical Hoiberg team it would have finished at least 11-7 or 12-6. Im sorry, but 5th place that year and not even winning a game in the Big 12 tourney was unacceptable. That first year is one of the reasons I still have alot of animosity towards Fred leaving and Prohm being hired.

Had we continued where we left off with those same players I think I would feel differently about Prohm. You could tell right away the program had taken a step back.

The computer rankings describe it precisely the same as the other Hoiberg teams --

-- high-powered offense
-- suspect defense and rebounding
-- fast pace
-- inconsistent

Ascribing some categorical difference to one fewer win in the Big 12 that season is nonsense. Monté had a three to win it against OU on January 2, 2016 -- he missed it. Are you telling me that one shot to flip one W-L would completely change your tune? I would also argue the Big 12 was better the second season -- maybe the best the conference ever was.

Look how bonkers the first and second team all-conference were...

Isaiah Taylor, Jr., G, Texas
Buddy Hield†, Sr., G, Oklahoma
Georges Niang†, Sr., F, Iowa State
Taurean Prince, Sr., F, Baylor
Perry Ellis†, Sr., F, Kansas

Jaysean Paige, Sr., G, West Virginia
Monte Morris, Jr., G, Iowa State
Frank Mason III, Jr., G, Kansas
Wayne Selden, Jr., Jr., G, Kansas
Devin Williams, Jr., F, West Virginia

How "acceptable" was not even winning a game in the NCAA tournament?

The 2015-2016 team was pretty similar to the 2014-2015 team. They both could be great at times, but their inconsistency and flaky defense left them vulnerable to upsets. The computers rate them pretty closely and similar to each other on net ratings and efficiencies. One had a good run in KC and flamed out, and the other lost to an excellent Oklahoma team in KC and then made it to the second weekend of the NCAA tournament. They lost to a magnificent performance by a good UVA team in Chicago, maybe the best game I have seen a team play live in my life.

What was really different there? The same players did the same thing.

Dead serious, you don't think 13-8 is serious bubble territory at that point in the season? This team was struggling big time and nothing changed until Solomon started getting put into the lineup.

Nope. Go find my posts from then. I laughed at you all at that point too.

You're really this dumb that you can't figure out why he was getting elite transfers 4 years in a row?

Are you waiting on friends to get back with you? Why won't you just tell me?

Lol, I totally forgot Nostradamus. You knew Solomon was going to provided inside presence and this team would win 7 out of its last 8 and win the Big 12 tourney right?

You asked, man. I'm not going to lie to you and tell you I was wrong.

If you don't know why Hoiberg was able to attract top transfer talent I seriously question whether you lack the basic knowledge on college basketball to be posting on this board.

I don't understand why you won't just tell me.

It doesn't hurt when most of the top tier programs aren't touching them.

Here's my final thought in this thread. I like to judge seasons off the seed a team gets in the NCAA tourney, its usually a solid indication of how good the program was that year.. Yeah, going far in the tourney is great, but it can also be a crapshoot depending on who you draw, or you could have a complete flop like against UAB.

That being said, this program got 3 seeds for two consecutive years, natural progression from that is going up to a 1 or 2 line, regressing is having a few years in the 4-6 range which this will be the third such season.

Since 4-6 is greater than 3, it doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure out the program has taken a step back since 2015. It's still good, but we aren't as good with this coaching staff as we were with Hoiberg.
