Wide Receiver Hype

Not sure this unit is set yet. I look for Eaton to get more PT as he gets more acclimated. Don't know if DS is in the dog house, but we aren't even looking for him and he was our big play threat last year.

The unit that appears over hyped are the TE's...

Total media creation fixation. For whatever reason (hmmm I wonder why that is?) the media thinks ISU has to pass to the TE's in order to be successful but we don't run a pro style attack that utilizes a TE coming off the line in a down position breaking out in to patterns.

I think he's pointing out the trend over the years which did not really die this game. For success this team has to make the routine plays consistently. That said you can't expect any team to play a perfect game and our WRs were average today.

Butler will be a crowd favorite...

I think they were very good today, except the drops. 300 yds, 4 tds and at least 4 drawn PIs. The drops were very costly, but they did a great job getting open and giving Park a target. Iowa is supposed to be a great D and they tore them up (except the drops)

Judging the quality of the receiving corp by a couple drops in 1 game is foolish. They are obviously every bit as advertised - just use your eyes

I mean i get what your point is, but judging a position group by the exact ability that they are given a scholarship to a school for free for seems pretty fair to me.

I guess I'm simply to a point where it would be nice to see some of the hype we see year in and year out in the offseason be justified consistently. Yes, the WRs made some big time plays today, which was fantastic, but you still have to make the routine catch routinely, which they failed to do at key moments today. No doubt the talent is there, but it's gotta result in production on the field.

Biggest gnawing-moment for me. Why was it necessary to pass on first down on that drive? I'd feel differently if the play was to zing it downfield ... why a short pass?

This..or 1 play too early at that time of the game. Was 100% certain that they were going to run that "option" (Park is going to pitch it) play that seemed like at least 5 yard money every time and then go with a pass play, put Iowa defense on their heels at 2nd down and 5 to make them determine if their stopping pass or run.

How many drops did they have last week against UNI? How many drops has Lazard had in his career?

Saying that, our WR's are studs, no question. If they would just catch the damn ball a few more times, they would be even better.

Next preseason, when everybody wants to get excited about our receivers and how great they are, please just link the film of this game. If they catch the ball today, we win. Simple as that.

Best hitter of all time failed 65% of the time.

The best Vikings kicker ever missed the most important kick of his career.

The best basketball player of all time missed 26 potential game-winning shots.

Nobody should be criticizing Butler, dude is Mr. 3rd and 4th down. Very reliable. That was probably his very first drop this year, nobody gets them all. Iowa was able to get there stud Wadely the ball on that crossing route and we weren't able to get the ball to our stud Montgomery on that last drive. That was the difference. Our receivers dropped to many balls, Stanely overthrew too many open receivers, I thought line play was nearly a draw and I didn't really notice Iowa's vaunted linebackers. Quite a bit of progress 14 games in to the Matt Campbell era.

I noticed Montgomery trucking Hesse and Jewell at the goal line for a sixer. Hoks can't feel good about that game Wadley will wear down to a nub by week 6 if they keep giving him that kind of usage and their defense got bombed on by a bottom tier Big 12 team.

If you are going to quote me have the guts to include the whole quote.
If people want to see your entire quote they can click that little arrow. Nothing stopping them. And I doubt it changes their opinion. Just pointing out what losers say. If you have a problem with that stop talking like a loser.

We are all losers today. What I say won't change that.
