It's also lame that head football coaches rely on offensive and defensive coordinators, I suppose...My only beef with Otz is that I don't know how fundamentally sound Xs and Os he is. Yes he is a culture guy, yes he gets his players to buy in and seems to bring the right guys in to run his system, but I'm not sure what we're getting from him in critical in game moments. It seems like he leaves it up to his assistants which seems kind of lame. But that's my only beef with him.
I forgot, what was Texas seeded again? How far did they go?You can't even make this up. In one of the most predictable tournaments ever the only two outlier results were Iowa's unexpected run to the elite8 and Iowa State getting ran out of the gym by the much lower seeded Tennessee team. Everything else has been chalk. What a ****** up result for Cyclone fans.
And although only one round, High Point. Overall, yeah, it was highly chalky, but more than just a couple of outliers.I forgot, what was Texas seeded again? How far did they go?
Think this was supposed to be WilliamsI mean you're going to hit on some like Kane or miss in the case of Nelson. I guess it shows there's a difference in the caliber of mid-major conferences. I just think a SR off guard that could have played at an all-big 12 level,(not even necessarily statistically) really was the difference between this team being a true elite team. At the very least I thought he could average 10ppg, hit some 3s, and had the occasional game where he went for 20+. We lacked the a consistent scoring threat in the backcourt.
For real….very glad Iowa lost. I don’t think I could stand a week of hearing about Iowa in the final 4Don't even care how it goes for them from here. They've been playing with house money since Clemson so just playing so ridiculously above their heads right now. Which is also incredibly annoying to watch when our own team can't catch a break.
I would've sunk pretty low. Possibly even depression, no jokeFor real….very glad Iowa lost. I don’t think I could stand a week of hearing about Iowa in the final 4
It does appear he's intended to fit that general niche.Think this was supposed to be Williams
You were already there. That might have just put you on suicide watch. I mean you are spending your Sunday basically thanking God Iowa didn't win because it would ruin your life. Put that into perspective. If it didn't dominate your mind you wouldn't be posting about itI would've sunk pretty low. Possibly even depression, no joke
You're reaching hard if you are trying to say that the dynamic of basketball coaching staffs and football staffs are the same. They aren't even close. Coaches generally do the play calling and coaching in basketball. Assistants typically help with practice, scouting reports, and recruiting. It's also lame that head football coaches rely on offensive and defensive coordinators, I suppose...
Lol I am not depressed. I am very sad that Tamin, Joshua, Nate, and Dominick's career had to end the way it did. I am a bit irritated that Iowa made the run they did, but ultimately another week of having to hear it all over the media I consume sans CF podcasts and seeing all these brand new Iowa men's basketball fans crawling out of the woodwork suddenly would have been really bad for own personal morale. You were already there. Yes, I was in Minneapolis before that. I guess I’m looking at the final four and I think now more than ever it is achievable. I firmly believe President Cook can be the impetus to find ways for our athletic programs to be more successful through funding.ISU was in the Elite 8 in 2000. Did you not watch that year?
You're sitting here talking about how the Iowa basketball fans are annoying you on a Sunday morning. Yes it bothers you.Lol I am not depressed. To me, it was actutally the first time I have not been super bummed after ISU was knocked out of the NCAA Tournament. I have seen three knockouts in person (2013 vs. Ohio State @ Dayton, 2015 vs. UAB @ Louisville and 2016 vs. Virginia @ Chicago). Those are the three worst, because I was there. UAB was just so disappointing, Ohio State just broke my heart, and UVA just sucked all around.Being 4.5 point favorites in a Sweet 16, losing by double digits, while Iowa is in the elite 8, is easily the most disappointing ISU game in history. The only other comparables would be the 2000 and 2001 tourney losses.
Get what you're saying, but I do think it's different. Blum just said on a recent pod that the new coaching trend in the sport will put an emphasis on coaches who are good X's and O's guys and bring a good GM with them for the other stuffIt's also lame that head football coaches rely on offensive and defensive coordinators, I suppose...
That happened on Saturday morning. You're sitting here talking about how the Iowa basketball fans are annoying you on a Sunday morning. Yes it bothers you.
Whats the difference anymore. They're all just days. Nice catch though! That happened on Saturday morning.
I agree I have been more bummed other years (although it's disappointing when you feel you do have a roster capable of winning the national title and injuries / unfavorable matchups get in the way).To me, it was actutally the first time I have not been super bummed after ISU was knocked out of the NCAA Tournament. As for this year, after Jefferson went down, I was just happy Iowa State looked great against Tennessee State and Kentucky and made the Sweet 16. From that point, they were playing with house money as long as Jefferson was out (and I did not expect him to play vs. the Vols). I thought Iowa State being favored over Tennessee was odd, so I didn't look at it as an Upset.
On to 2026-7!
