And nobody had an issue with it until it was put with the uniforms. That was just the "logo vote" - what would be put on the new ISU helmet.

No, that isn't true. People immediately started to complain about white helmets and the idea was scrapped but the logo was placed on red instead.

I'll take them over anything like gawd-awful yellow. Those horrid all-yellow uni's in 2006? were terrible
You're right. The helmet color was already decided to be white, but the fan backlash made them go red.
Well they put out some mock ups with white in them but the backlash wasn't as much about the white in the UNI mock up as it was the thought of going to a white helmet which the fans were STRONGLY opposed to at the time. It is interesting how changing times and presentation techniques can change what was vehemently opposed at the time to excitedly received today with what is essentially the same helmet.
What's the over-under on days until we debate what's the best shade of white? 1.5?

White helmet is nice.
I like the gold hue for the 'STATE' on the helmet, but I dont find the yellow stripes on jersey to be that great. I wish they could match that color of gold on the jerseys that are on the helmet.

You're right.
But for the record, I was excitedly on board with white helmets the first time around. I've always been a big fan of Tejas's all-whites, and white helmets in general. I was, however, not excited about the uniforms that they displayed them with.
I've automatically extended my win expectations to 8.
But really, those do look sharp and would be fun to see ISU come out in them.
I'll be more impressed with a look that distinguishes ISU from other schools to establish a real 'brand', if that's possible at this point.
