Which Newcomer You Most Excited For?

I really hope Malou achieves great success at ISU. Been a tough path for him.

I love how bought in he seems to be. He strikes me as a team first type of guy. Bowie too was quoted saying he'd fill whatever role the coaches needed from him. Morris Long Thomas and Burton all have that selfless attitude as well. Something is to be said for team chemistry and playing for eachother.

The ole keep the best players off the floor strategy.

Yeah, that's what it is.

Nevermind the fact that Monte and Prohm talked about getting his minutes down next season. I would like to see our best player(s) fresher when it comes time to close teams out.

It won't happen.

Excited about all newcomers. Like many, Malou is most intriguing. I'm curious what Jackson brings, too. Also want to see what Weiller-Babb brings.

If any of the freshmen have an impact, that'd be sweet, obviously, but I'm mostly looking at upperclassmen.

I'm excited for Malou the most. With his range and defensive ability, he's going to be a stud. This team is going to be so much better defensively this season.

I'm going to change it up a bit and say Babb. The current team keeps throwing his name out there in interviews and I think he will contribute some minutes next year. Monte was on KXNO on Friday and the only two guys he mentioned in rotation at the guard spot besides Naz, Thomas and himself were Donovan and Babb. I'm sure there will be others but interesting he said only those two.

Malou, Jackson, Bowie or one of the freshman Young, Long or Lard? Hopefully we have an immediately eligible big on the way as well. I think we need one of the forwards (Malou or Bowie) to be special to have a better year.

I like what Malou has the potential to bring to the table as far as his offense goes. Of all the newcomers though I like Jakolby Long the most. Thomas became a great defender this year, and after next year he'll be gone. Long said he wants to be an elite defender so I hope that torch gets passed to him by the Iceman.

Another vote for Malou here. I just wish we could fast forward to November already. It's always exciting to see which guys coach trots out onto the floor during the first game of the year. With social media nowadays you already kinda know what you're getting in each player, 15 years ago it was more of a mystery and made for greater excitement. Still really exciting though.

Malou with Jackson shortly behind him.

I just hope we don't get our expectations way out of wack for Malou right away and fans turn on him a la Matt Thomas his first 2 years.

I'm excited for all of them. Next year is so much different than this last year. A lot more unknowns but still a lot of potential to be a good team.

The question in the OP pertained to excitement, not impact, so I'll go with Solomon Young and Jacolby Long.
Young, by sheer necessity, may affect impact as well.

Might also through Babb into the mix. My view is that these are the guys who'll give us an immediate glimpse into Prohmball, as distinct from Hoiball.

With an actual back up PG they'll come down.

Considering he played the most minutes of any player in ISU history - I think it's a safe bet to come down a bit. Even 35-36 minutes would be better.

I'm looking forward to Monte playing the 2 with Jackson in the game with him. They have the potential to be very dynamic together.

Monte said he and Prohm talked on Friday that he would be down to about 30-32 minutes per game next season.

I have a feeling the expectations for Malou were "out of wack" after his first ABCD academy video surfaced.

Unlike Matt though he won't be a 18 year old freshman and I can't see EM loosing his starting job ~10 games in due the current post situation. Emmanuel will need some time to adjust but I think his curve is less steep than Matt's was in his first year.

Malou will be a big part of it, but I am most interested in seeing how Young and Bowie do this next year. It's physical teams like Baylor, West Virginia and Virginia that killed us this year. Without some guys to bang bodies inside next year it will be the same results as this year.

Agree with this. Malou is roughly the same age as Georges Niang and has a ton of game experience (although not at the Big 12 level). He should be ready to hit the floor running.
