It sucks that cyclone alley has to have a top 10 team or rival to come to town for there to be a full sellout. Today was a big game. Should've been a sellout.
condolences to Kyle as well.

Sad to hear about Kyle. So is Big Georges an orphan now?
If he's got a close friend here they should ask for it! I'm sure his family would love for it to be used, and don't want it laying around the house lol. But yeah it's too bad there's not enough die hard students at Iowa State to fill the student section.
dude...
Maybe, but the band doesn't even chant anymore. Like the "ball is bigger than the hoop". I for one miss that stuff and I think it gives us an edge. I'm not saying our students aren't hollering, etc, just seems that things have been more tame lately.
Only the good die young. Whatever you think about the poor kid, he had enough life to bring Big Georges into Hilton, and that's not a small task. We can't afford to lose many more like this to drugs.
If you want to know why there is a lack of energy, signs, and people dressing up you can look at overselling. I have gone to all of the games and everything but ever since the Iowa game I haven't really been as excited. The Kansas game was going to be the second biggest game for me but it wasn't really a big deal because people don't want to have to stand in line just to get in.
Now I know there are open seats but there isn't a really good way to know if there are spots or not. This drives some people away. Then for the people with signs and stuff tv is one thing but they also don't want to stand in line forever with them.
Another thing is while some people in the student section are idiots (yesterday someone complained because Kane was playing PG) the majority of the people are intelligent fans. They understand that we are good and shouldn't lose. I think this is another big thing. People are more stressed that we might lose than cheering and stuff that we win. I know that's one of my problems.

The only way I can interpret this is that you don't cheer because "we are good and should win", therefore if it is close, the team is playing badly and they don't deserve your cheers because you're mad at them.
Correct me if I misinterpreted that, but otherwise...what a total load of crap!
Definitely misinterpreted. I cheer but I compare it to looking at the games from the perspective of a coach. I don't necessarily get super excited for above average play or mad about below average. I do get frustrated when it is awful and getting really excited when we get on a big run.
What I meant when it comes to students as a whole is that we don't have as many students that will cheer anything good that happens to us and boo any call that goes against us like some schools have. We are more intelligent than that.
I didn't even mean anything close to how you interpreted it. I bleed cardinal and gold. I get mad that other students don't go to things like the women's games and volleyball and wrestling. I will always cheer for Iowa State I just find myself hoping something doesn't go wrong more than being excited that we might win.
The "overselling is ruining the student section" posts are ****ing crap. Some of you are acting too cool for school.
As others stated - waiting in line for MBB is no different than FB. Want a good seat you wait in line. Only 2-3 games a year there is a threat to get turned away. Show up and quit ********.
And for those whining "it's not the CF members that don't show up" - then apply some damn peer pressure to your "friends".
It's pathetic we can't fill the student section when we are a very good team playing a ranked team in a huge game.
This post makes zero sense. You have to stand in line for at most 2 games a year. Iowa and KU. That's it. It has always been that way even before they oversold the tickets. Only difference is more people are getting turned away now. Upper balcony has been half empty since long before they started over-selling. JP's solution in the past? Sell a couple thousand SRO tickets to the general public. I'd look for him to do that again this year since it still seems to be a problem. Especially for Senior Night.
Where's JB and the blow-up lady costume been at?
