This is actually kinda interesting. I am looking at my apartment parking lot and I could tell you exactly where my car is parked.

This would be really helpful at something like the big 12 tournament when you're trying to find a buddy in the P&L.

I still can't figure out what problem they're trying to solve. I don't remember my home's lat/long, but I don't know how I'd remember a bunch of random words for each place I go.

If they're claiming lat/long takes up too much memory, couldn't you just round them off? Whatever decimal place is equivalent to a 3m grid?

if we are stationary we describe the place we are. if we are moving then neither the lat/long nor this helps us. good point.

The purpose is to describe a precise location that cannot be identified by an address, in such a way that is easy for people to remember accurately. It's not a question of CPU memory but human memory. It's far easier to accurately remember 3 words than to remember 2 different numbers out to about 5 decimal places (which is what you need to get 9 foot x 9 foot accuracy. And being able to get directions with it is huge in my opinion. Out here in western WA, there are lots of campsites, lakes, trail heads, etc that are only accessible from unnamed and/or unmarked logging roads. And it's not like Iowa where you get within a half mile and you can see your destination.

Browsed some locations around ISU. So if I want to meet my girlfriend in front of Maple, I'll tell her to meet me at Extra Hands Club. Or if she asks where I want to find me for campaniling, I'll just say Cute Punt Harp.
