I was browsing Marketplace and saw this jersey, does anyone know?

I thought I knew about every era of Cyclone football jersey, so this has me stumped.

It’s closest to the 2004-2007 look, that’s the right era for the Big 12 patch. Don’t think the side cardinal was ever worn.

Think this is a bookstore special.

On Wisconsin
yeah, the Nike swoosh looks off.

But would that style have been in 06 or 07? It looks like something that era would have worn

It was Never used in a game, but definitely made with the intent of being used in a game.

If I had to guess I would say it’s a sample Nike sent to ISU when they were transitioning from Russell Athletic to Nike for the athletics uniforms in 2002/2003.

You would not have been able to buy this at retail store.

Yep, definitely '03-'07

I always kinda like those whites. The aways were better than the homes at the time. Don't even remember any alternates or cool throwbacks until the Shaggy FG game when we beat Iowa.

This makes the most sense. the quality seems too high to be a book store knock off. you can see that the paneling matches that of the game worn ones.

Our initial contract with Nike was literally as cheep and bare bones as they offered. A high school level contract. These initial football jerseys (and also the basketball ones) were literally off the rack cheap/low quality. The colors were generic red and yellow, and navy blue (we didn’t get to customize or pick the correct Cardinal shade). The numbers were screen printed. Even at that time, there were high schools in Iowa that had “higher quality” football and basketball jerseys than we did. It wasn’t until ~2007 and the 2nd year of Chizik when we finally got into the “Nike Elite” level, which brought the custom Cardinal shade, embroidered numerals, and the highest quality jersey chassis available. In basketball it wasn’t until McDermott’s last year (2009?) when we finally made the jump, and even those were knockoffs of the Michigan State template at that time.

I think it’s legit. The blousing of the jersey in the photo makes the swoosh look off and who would waste time counterfeiting that jersey?
