What Was Your High School Mascot?

Hawks (now Hawks and Jaguars since the school district split into two)

It was inevitable for Ankeny to become a two school district but, it was still sad to see the great athletic tradition get split up. It was always an intense and exciting week when we prepared for teams like SEP and Dowling but those rivalries can't be the same as they were a few years ago.

I worked in the sports dept of a Radio Iowa affiliate and football friday nights were some of my favorite times to be driving home from covering a game and hearing scores from all the schools in the state. Its funny how I pretty much know every in state school you guys are talking about when you bring up the mascot

One of my favorites is the Interstate 35 Roadrunners!

Muscatine Muskies. Used to have Indian logo. Now a spear after political issues. Used to have an indian(regional tribe Muscatine was named for) as a live mascot at games, then it was a fish, now a gorilla i hear. We used to call the nascot Mojo or something like that.

Muskies (after Native American tribe) commonly confused with the fish. Logo was a spear, not a fish.

Muscatine (like twistedredbird right above this post.)

The gorilla was a mascot brought on by a kid above me (class of '03) who later went on to be TC the Panther at UNI. Kinda like the Phoenix Suns, the gorilla makes no f'n sense but the fans loved it.

How long ago you talking?

At least 20 years ago? I'm class of 2011 so I'm only familiar with Webster City, Nevada, Ballard (Heh, these FB Games were good), DCG (great stadium), ADM, Saydel...

Hell, I remember that for my school's Senior season year since we got paired with Decorah (3 Hours Away), they just had us play at the Unidome in the first round. Boone lost...badly but it still was awesome to play in the Unidome.

And I think they did again for the year after I graduated.
