What Was Your High School Mascot?

As embarrassing as this is, a Toreador isn't a bullfighter. It's actually the guy that hands the little flag to the Matador to wave around. Pretty lame, right?
Since I graduated from Boone, I must defend Boone to the end of time,

At least we tried with a nickname. How many schools have Cubs, Hawks, Bulldogs, Tigers, Etc. as their nickname?

And to the Nevada guy, I have always felt kinda sorry for you guys regarding football. I was happy for you when you actually won a game.

I wondered if I was gonna see a fellow Beaver on the board. If I had a dollar for every time some smart alec road game announcer mentioned how they were "penetrating deep into Beaver territory," I'd be a rich man.
Of course, thanks to Teen Wolf, it didn't even seem that odd to me. Same colors, even. I'm just glad there were no Trojans or Rough Riders in the conference.

Nothing, my HS just combined the letters Orange and Black and came up with Orabs? Ya I know..... There is no mascot or anything, our symbol is just a big block orange O with black borders.

Something like the Syracuse Orange or the Stanford Cardinal, eh? I pity the cheerleaders having to come up with cheers for that!

Oh I'm with you. Born and raised and graduated from Boone. Just find the name odd. Why not be the Matadors so everyone knows what it really is?

Bobcats!

But, the year after I graduated schools combined and they became the Wolverines.

Yep, I still have a high school letter coat with a hood that zips flat and says D I K E on the back. There is no way I'm ever getting rid of that little gem.

I always felt sorry for Boone, back in the day Boone and Saydel were in the same conference and the winner of that game would have one win for the season. They both would get crushed by Ankeny, Urbandale and Newton among others.

How long ago you talking?

Along with the odd names thing, when we vacationed in Michigan UP, I found this gem:

My cousin graduated from Teutopolis HS in Illinois. His mascot was the Wooden Shoes.

T-Town was a major basketball power in the 80's and 90's, in boys and girls. My cousins, all 5 over 6 ft, four of them girls, all played in the state tournament.

Panthers freshman and sophomore year, Bulldogs junior and senior. I moved smack in the middle of high school.
