What was your 1st car?

What was your 1st car? I had a 1976 AMC Hornet, everything that could go wrong with it often did. I'm not to sure MTV could even pimp-my-ride it was so bad. But it did get me around for the near 200,000mi it had on it.

...and did your siblings or children have a nicer ride than you?

Convertible. 1960 Ford Galaxy 500 XL Robin's Egg Blue

That car had a pick up load of chrome on it. It was a beauty and I loved it.

Paid $1,000 for it used.

1967 Volkswagon Karmann Ghia. More rust and puddy than anything else and the battery was held in place by a paving brick. But it was still pretty awesome. Wish I had kept that thing, would have been a fun restore now that I have the $$. I moved quickly to a 1980 Volkswagon Jetta and then stepped into an '85 Jetta. Man I loved those old beaters.

'91 Lincoln Continental with no A/C and a digital dashboard that would go blank when you turned on the headlights. No idea why my parents let me drive that car at night when you had no idea how fast you were going.

1987 Plymouth Sundance. The description read PNK, even though it looked light tan. I told people PNK stood for pigment not known. Some bought it.

1980 Pontiac Grand Le Mans, Safari Edition Staion Wagon. It was a hand me down and I rocked that through high school. Had a great engine but the rest was pretty bad.

I later got a 1989 Honda Civic (another hand me down) and that thing ran like a top. It was indestructible and the best snow car I ever had. I did get in some pretty bad winters.

1979 Ford Fairmont with no transmission. Bought it for $700. Towed it home and put a junkyard trans in it. Lasted me until I was a junior in college. Then my little brother drove it for a few years.

1968 Mustang. My parents bought it when I was born, and it became mine on my 16th birthday. I drove it like an idiot male teenager and beat the crap out of it, so it barely made it through high school. Makes me ill to this day that I didn't respect what I had.

1994 Ford Explorer. What kinda parents let a 16yr old kid get an SUV where the seats all fold flat? Awesome ones. Bad idea letting me have a stick, dropping the clutch in reverse was a little hard on my bank account.

1989 Honda CRX. Handed down from my dad, I drove it till it had over 300,000 miles on it and then I sold it for $700. Only major fix was a new radiator.

95 beretta - got so much ***** in that I had trouble selling it with all the stains in the back seat

1970 Grand Prix, 455 engine. That sucker hauled ***! Was an awesome car until it got totaled by some drunk on Duff Ave driving in a Nova (still hate that model) after ZZ Top concert in Ames, Spring 1984. I think I was drunk too but it was his fault! Cops never gave me any gruff.

1975 Gran Torino wagon, **** brown.

We bought it from our neighbors for 100 bucks when the timing chain went then spent $79 on the timing chain. My stepdad and I put in the new chain. I then had to wait for my sister to graduate before it was my car.

It was the ultimate POS party wagon. It was so rusted out that I had to roll down the windows when I drove on a gravel road because it would fill up with so much dust I could literally not see out the windshield if I didn't.

In the winter I had to feather the gas whenever I stopped to keep it from dying.

I'm sure it seems much better than it was looking back over the years. :jimlad:
