He KNEW they were violations at the time and did so anyway. Committing known violations jeopardizes the programs, school, and the kids involved with it. It compromises the hard work of many for the personal gain and glory for the few. But let's just say the first round of phone calls were no big deal for argument's sake.

Okay, now that we have that understanding Sampson went to a new school, KNOWING he was under watchful eye and going to be scrutinized. Any cogent individual would recognize this and be on the straight and narrow. But now Sampson. He goes to Indiana and gets caught doing THE SAME thing he did at OU in his FIRST YEAR. I mean, how ******* stupid can he be? And how stupid could some here be for even wanting the guy.

Whatever. Let's bring him here then ***** about it in 3 years when he get caught doing something else that's braindead and completely stupid.

We aren't hiring him. It isn't worth getting upset about. I'd love to have him because since IU, he hasn't had any issues and he's a great coach.

I think a better comparison is a guy who just kept showing up late to work but continuously performed at a high level. Yeah, he knows showing up late is wrong. He's going to do it. Since then, my buddies company adopted flex scheduling and there are no set hours. So... why wouldn't I recommend my buddy hire him?

Fool me once? Shame on you. Fool me twice? Shame on me. Fool me three times? Shame on CycloneErik.

It's not even about the FIRST time. He got fired, with cause, from OU then goes to Indiana and does the same exact ******* thing he did at OU. Indiana was stupid for hiring him in the first place, so I don't exactly feel for them, but in knowingly committing the SAME INFRACTIONS twice, he not only showed how stupid/unethical he was it got Indiana sanctioned.

I mean, if you owned a company and caught an employee watching porn, gave them a warning, and caught them doing the SAME thing again (and summarily fired them) would you tell your buddy to hire the guy? This isn't a hard concept to understand.

are you comparing watching porn to coaching at Iowa State?

I am about 60% sure i could run a better offensive scheme than prohm does so ill take the job, give me 1 mil a year, and im sure i could finish in last place 3 out of 5 years and really save the school money.

i'll cheer for you...only for a couple years...then you're fired. take your $2mm and GTFO, ok?

10 seasons as P6 assistant plus just as much success as a HC (preISU for Prohm)....this is Prohm's first paid job at a p6 school. TJ spent time on the bench at ISU and Washington, Steve was an assistant at Centenary, SE Louisiana and Murray. Not even really comparable.

From a HC perspective, totally comparable...almost a nod to CSP. TJ walked in to a great team at SDSU and had Daum the whole time (not his recruit). Won their conference tournament, got to the dance and bounced, his last year he went to the NIT. UNLV results are early, but not exactly knocking it out of the park. Again, I like TJ...UNLVwould be the”build” experience many on this board desires, but the results are too early to say it’s been successful.

Yeah I think there’s some pause with this years results. Last year you saw the growth near the end I thought. This year hasn’t been good but I think Covid is a reasonable excuse for him. I’d like to see next year.

That said I think people continue to overinflated Prohm’s Murray State teams. He never didn’t have an NBA point guard. Even then he only made the NCAA tournament once. Not only that but they didn’t even make the NIT two of the years.

TJ inherited a pretty good team and a great player but Daum isn’t even an NBA player. They made the tournament in 2/3 years and made the NIT in the other year. Last year he had UNLV finish 2nd in the MWC. Otzelberger has a much better resume than Prohm.

Nice little piece from Ted here. Basically sums up my thoughts exactly. Personally, I wasn't ever really sold on Prohm (starting after the home loss to Cincy) and wanted to hold my true judgements until he got his own guys into the program, but I supported him. The 2018-19 season is what did it for me. When we lost 6 of our last 8 that season (including getting blown out in two of them to teams we should've easily beaten), I was done, especially after what I heard was going on in the locker room. I wanted him gone. Then the Big 12 tournament run happened and I thought things turned the corner, but I was way wrong. Shoot, I remember getting "dumbed" into oblivion on here saying we should find a way to get rid of him after the Ohio State loss in Tulsa.

Right...HC comparable, prior to that it's advantage TJ and it's not even close. That's a much different path. I'd rather have a guy with HC and p6 experience. Do you realize what Prohm walked into at Murray? He had an NBA PG on the roster and they had been the top program in their league for decades.

The other thing is, going back to 1985, Murray has had 9 different coaches, every one of them has multiple NCAA appearances...except for Steve Prohm and Billy Kennedy (Prohms mentor). So he is actually one of the least successful coaches they've had in the last 35 years.

With respect to TJ, his recruits did just take it to us a few weeks ago. That doesnt say much about them as a team but more about Prohm being outcoached yet again.

Certainly agree TJs assistant coach days are more rounded than CSP
