what 2008 center will isu sign?

I have heard similar things about Negedu. That's why he probably won't end up a Clone. I'm not sure who is calling the shots behind the scenes but I don't think he will be making his own decision.

I do not think Lute Olson will be handing him a bag of money - he is 72 and wants to retire as a clean coach. Maybe Southern Miss may be better fit.

Is that a rip on Eustachy and saying he is not a clean coach? If so I am not getting your statement at all.

And y do all of us think that Lute is squeky clean? No saying he is not but he comes off a little more dirty to me than some other coaches across the country.

i seriously doubt negedu is asking for money, and if he was he certanyly wouldnt be having any interest in us. so we should be getting off this topic

I worked at HyVee for awhile when I was at ISU. I remember one of our BBall players coming into the store after a win with a roll of $50 bills and bought cart loads of alcohol.
I was personally shocked to see a player flashing that much cash around. Maybe the NCAA looks the other way sometimes, but all I can say is that I am kinda glad that coach left before ISU was investigated.

Just out of curiosity, why do you say that? Negedu may not be the one asking for anything. I have heard he doesn't even speak English very well. There is, however, a reasonable probability that his personal representative is asking for something. Do you think that type of thing isn't widespread in NCAA D1 sports? If so, you are being a little naive. Coaching high-level AAU basketball teams is no longer just about helping the players. It has become a lucrative business for those who run and coach the good teams. Succcessful AAU coaches across the country often get kickbacks from various sources such as alumni and/or underhanded coaches to steer their players in a certain direction. That's "business as usual" in today's world of NCAA D1 basketball. GMac won't knowingly tolerate that nonsense under his watch because he has too much integrity. For that reason, ISU will sometimes be at a disadvantage when it comes to recruiting certain players. Negedu may well be one of those players.

I think it's huge that he does not speak english very well. That means he probably don't realize the basketball tradition that Arizona has going on. I think that actually does give us a better shot at him.

not sure why im getting negative rep for saying that i doubt negedu is asking for money, but whatever makes the person giving me negitive rep happy.

So now I am getting bad rep becuase of something I witnessed first hand!?!? WTF!!! If you can't handle reality, then I am sorry.

If you choose to believe that ISU is above all other D-1 schools and completely clean, fine live in your rose colored world. Reality is shades of gray. The former power forward bought $250 dollars of liqour and paid for it in cash. I didn't have that kinda money when i was in school..........sure glad our athletes did.

I have no doubt that the incident you described may have happened. But we don't know the actual story. When you or I were undergrads we probably didn't have that kind of disposable cash, but we weren't on a free ride either. No tuition, no room/board, no books to buy. If I was in that situation I would of had quite a bit more 'mad money' at my disposal. I guess we'll never know all of the facts behind the situation.

Cybone, did you ever think that maybe the guys got together and gave the money to that one guy? It happens...

Alot of these players also qualify for ALOT of grant money on top of their full ride... I don't think there are any programs that are squeeky clean, but there can be a reasonable explanation for everything...

You could very well be correct. When he pulled out the roll, it was a roll of $50 dollar bills. That is what sparked my attention. It it had been a roll of ones, fives and even 20's, I wouldn't have thought anything about it. Secondly, the player went to the store right after a game that night. We had it on the tvs in our section.

C.John is correct, I don't know the entire story. I just know what I was personally involved with and witnessed first hand. The entire athletic department has undergone several changes in leadership since this incident took place (over 10 years ago) and I am willing to bet that IF there was anyting going on on the sly, it probably isn't happening these days.
