Anyone else check this out, this weekend?

What a riot. Leave it to Weird Al to do a pitch perfect parody of the Music Biopic genre. So ridiculous and over the top, and just brilliant. So many cameos.

The scene at Dr. Demento's pool party is iconic.

And Evan Rachel Wood as Madonna was phenomenal

I loved Wierd Al when I was a kid. I think I wore out my family's copy of the Dare to be Stupid album on my little brown Fisher Price cassette player.

So where do you find this?

Thanks for the link! I had forgotten about this so I just watched. FYI not a single commercial for me, maybe AdBlockPlus?

Anyway, I really had no hope that this could turn out to be good, and turns out it really was! The casting was so good and the cameos great. Evan Rachel Wood is great, more reason to love her. I normally hate Harry Potter but he was good, and funny that he was ripped.

Only one thing though, WHAT THE HELL DO THEY MAKE AT THE FACTORY!!!

He did a little bit of this in some 'behind the scenes' deal a long time ago.

Something along the lines of 'before all of this, I was a pompous jerk, so it feels good to know fame hasn't changed me'.

Yeah, the fake trailer with Aaron Paul is supposed to be the inspiration for this whole movie.
In my opinion, this belongs in the conversation with This is Spinal Tap, and Walk Hard. It's not quite the same as either of those, but they all have a similar mentality

Both of those still felt a little more earnest than this. Weird basically takes what those did and turns it up another 11. It almost parodies parody.

I loved Will Forte's dressing down of "Al" in front of Al.

It was completely over the top, which made it funny. Anyone who doesn't know the Weird Al back story and/or get the satire will think it is the dumbest movie ever.

Well said. It's sort of like Walk Hard meets the Naked Gun. But even that doesn't really describe it.

If people don't like Weird Al or the Idea of Weird Al. I don't like that person. I mean the guy has 4 gold records and has sold over 10 million albums. Many artists (Not All) will tell you that you have not made it in the music business until weird Al parodies one of your songs. I love that type of stuff.

I thought Rainn Wilson was great as Dr. Demento. I got a Boogie Nights vibe during the pool party scene. From what I've read it was Madonna that approached Weird Al about doing a parody of Like a Virgin. Good stuff.
