Just seemed like snowfall would be more intense on Friday night versus early Saturday. I just don’t trust my weather skills enough to know if I am right or not
that would be ideal, but between work and dropping the dog off it just wouldn’t work time wise.

they've been calling for rain changing over to freezing rain/sleet Friday night before the snow hits. I would say leave as early as possible Saturday and be prepared for a long slow drive.
Still thinking the big time storms down south in Texas will keep most of the energy down there and limit snow fall totals in the Midwest?
The GFS and NAM models have it positioned right over Central Iowa now. GFS being the more realistic of the two. I’ll have whatever the NAM is smoking. 
KCCI expects around 8 inches of snow by Sunday in Des Moines. No beuno.
In the CR area it sounds like it could be icy around the time of the commute home from work...that is not good!
The new KCCI weather lady, Kelley Mood (she's from CA so take it how you want) is calling for 6 inches by 11:30 pm tonight and then another 2-3 inches on top of that by the end of the weekend.
