We WILL be ranked next Monday..

I think it's almost better if we're not ranked. We play two of the weaker teams in the conference and with a ranking our focus might slip. The team needs to keep that chip on their shoulders.

Not true. A lot of teams near the bottom of the T25 lost and could potentially drop out after losses this week...

Vandy
Indiana
Wisconsin
Gonzaga

In addition, a number of slightly higher ranked teams also lost, and could fall off some voters' ballots (but will likely remain ranked in total):

Creighton
Marquette
Virginia
UNLV
etc
We also need to consider teams like Notre Dame that are just as likely (if not more so) to crack the top 25. Before the KSU game I thought we would definitely be in if we went 2-0. Now that it has happened, it feels more like a 60-ish% chance when I look at the national landscape.

agree with this, I also doubt wisconsin gets penalized for losing to ohio state. I think the vandy and gonzaga spots are the only ones up for grabs. We may sneak in there but i doubt it.

Being 7-3 in the Big 12, we deserve to be ranked. Especially when you realize we lost at Kansas, at Texas, and home to Mizzou. I don't think we will be ranked though.

I dont buy everyone saying that. A ranking is just a number. I think the players will always be hungry.

While watching the KU/Misery game with my 4year old daughter, i tried to explain to her that while Misery was ranked higher, KU was on top of the conference standings. I told her it was simply because Misery didn't lose last week. Kid still insisted that since KU was on top, they were the higher ranked team due to this fact alone.

Silly numbers.

Teams ranked from 21 to us in the AP poll:
21. Florida State: Georgia State W, #18 Virginia W
22. Mississippi State: Auburn W
23. Michigan: #20 Indiana W, #10 Michigan State
24. Gonzaga: BYU L, Pepperdine
25. Vandy: Arkansas L, #11 Florida L
Harvard: Cornell W, Columbia W
Louisville: Rutgers W
Kansas State: Iowa State L, Texas A&M W
West Virginia: Pitt L, Providence
Wichita State: Missouri State W, Indiana State
Nevada: Utah State W, Idaho
Notre Dame: #15 Marquette W
Southern Miss: Memphis W
Long Beach State: Cal State Northridge

I think we can pass Long Beach State, Southern Miss, Nevada, Wichita State, West Virginia, Kansas State, Vandy, and Gonzaga. Maybe Michigan if they lose tomorrow. That puts us at 26 or 27 for next week.

Appreciate you doing the ranking-legwork that I was too lazy to do.

If fans wonder about possibility of cracking the top 25, this shows why it'd be hard to get there.

Additionally, what other teams in the 26-30 range had as good/better week compared to ISU?

Kinda like the BCS system.
