We really have something special

There have been a lot of times I have said this same thing, but tonight isn't one of them. Melvin had what, 19 pts, close to 10 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 turnover, and guarded Withey much of the time. This was a great game. Will be up to Fred and the team to make this a positive and win a bunch of games in a row. Could very easily let this affect them and lose at home to Texas.

You don't put up 19 and 10 at Phog Allen because you're just an "energy guy". He's definitely the most improved player so far this year.

Did anyone see the scoul (sp) that Niang put on in early on the 1st half. If he keeps that and puts on 15 lbs in the off season that man will be feared by all in the Big 12. When you go into places like that you have to feel like you are the biggest Bad A** on the court. MF, TJ, CS, and RW all played that way. That attitude is awesome to see out of a true freshman.

Here is to not taking so **** from nobody any more! Droppin bows and making throws

I haven't seen the team much because they haven't been on TV much, but was really impressed with Niang, just can't say enough good things about him. I also was pleasantly surprised with Lucious, thought he played very well. My son has seen all the games in Hilton, says Lucious is a bit inconsistent, but I'm hoping that was just rust early on from not playing last year. A bit disappointed with Clyburn, but maybe he had a tough matchup. And Babb clearly has one spot on the floor he loves to shoot from, but he drained several there. This team will be fun to watch. Probably has taken them a while to gel as a unit, but that happened last year too. With everyone ragging on him, I just want to say thank you CFH.

I'm excited to get some shooters who can hit > 38% from Trey. We chuck up a lot of treys, but are only average on hitting them.

Damn, we lost on a bank shot.....argh..

2nd in the Big 12 and 85th out of 347 teams nationally. That is in the top quarter nationally. How is that average?

What I really like about him is his confidence already and you can tell he's already emerging as a leader.....the more he keeps learning/growing/improving could lead to a very special player.

From the first game of the year, I have seen this quality in Georges. The chemistry between him and Naz during that first game (who'd we play again?) was really fun to watch in person and I continue to be impressed with CFH's recruiting.

We're going to make a run one of these years at the title. You can bank on it!

I have been a fan of Georges for quite some time. I watched as many of his games at Tilton as I possibly could (they streamed a lot of them). Great player and a great Cyclone.

I can't wait to see him develop along with Sherron Dorsey-Walker. I know he redshirted this year and I hope he stays because he is extremely talented. Add in Morris and Thomas (and I think Dustin Hogue will also be very good for us) for years to come.

So much so that he got a 'T' that ultimately played a large part in losing this game.

I'm not blaming him, by the way.

I dunno, maybe as a butterfly effect type thing, but we had a million chances afterward to pull further ahead.

With an OT game, you can point to 40 different individual plays that can change the result of a game that ends regulation in a tie.

Wasn't a great decision, but he will learn from it, and I think he's one of the smartest b-ball players I've seen. The term basketball IQ is way overused, but in his case, I think it's correctly applied.

BUMPST! Thinking back, I remember the night at Iowa when Booker got in some early foul trouble and this Georges Niang kid came in the game. Played a lot of minutes and played pretty well. By mid conference play, we knew this guy was a gamer.

Best of all, you can tell Niang really loves everything ISU. Remarkable he's this good, and will probably be in an Iowa State jersey for 2 more years. Ejim was really the main building block for hoiberg which got ISU back to prominence, but I got a feeling Niang will be revered far more by the time he's done in Ames.

Can't say enough good things about Georges. He is a special player and I'm so glad he's on this team. There are 3 moments that really stick out that has endeared him to me.

The first was his emotional interview following the loss to OSU in the tourney last year. He took the blame for Craft hitting that final shot and felt so bad for the seniors. At that point I really felt like he was assuming leadership over this year's team.

The second was that little bit of trash talk he put out following the win over Iowa this season when he said that "We all know it's a Cyclone State." I loved that so much because he completely gets the rivalry, even if he didn't grow up in Iowa.

The third was during the win over Kansas in the B12 tourney and he gave the crowd that fist pump after getting injured. In one simple gesture, he signaled that he was okay and cheered on his teammates to finish strong.

Niang is a warrior, and it kills me that he's out for the rest of the season with the broken foot. But it pleases me to no end that we've got him and Naz for another two years. Georges is going to do big things here before we celebrate his Senior Day.
