WBB Recruiting continued...

This is just a suggestion and you can ignore it if you want, but I have a request. Can we keep this thread clear of tangential material? I come to this thread for the latest on who we're recruiting, not philosophical discussions on areas of the country we recruit and why or a history on past ISU players and coaches.

I think one factor in the "where to recruit" is recruiting close to the region that your conference is in simply because there is more exposure of your school and conference there, and it makes it easier to make visits. I think BF has just had more luck going west than east perhaps. I also think he likes to target kids that fit our program style.

I believe we do have an offer to Cohen in WI, but don't know how serious that is or not. I thought about going to some of her games next week in the state championship, but that would require them to win this week. Coach Steyer is from up here near Milwaukee, but I don't know if she still has ties up here or not.

On MN, I believe we have had offers out to a player or two last year that ended up elsewhere, same with NE players. As the Big 12 south teams have moved into Missouri too, I think it has forced us to expand our reach. However, being a regular team in the tourney(Elite Eight) allows us into doors that might have not been open otherwise. If we land one or two marquee players this year, I think that alone will help to open more doors. BF has said its going to be a big class, and I am highly anxious to see who its gonna be.

Go cyclones!

California and Texas aren't new recruiting areas. Tracy Gahan was out of Texas and Lyndsey Medders was out of California. Lyndsey Wilson was out of Seattle. The Cyclones are such a tight fit for players that BF has to find the right attitude and ability to bring in to the system. I think he works all areas to find good talent.

Plus the player has to want to live in Iowa with the winters. BF has always mentioned that to be one of the most difficult factors to overcome. It doesn't help that every game that is FSN during the season Debbie Antonelli mentions the weather.

According to Coach Steyer's Tweet, I think they are together at a Juco game.

"At Juco game- Coach F signing lots of autographs- they know their basketball! Hope our team is enjoying Aunt Maudes"

Hopefully they stuck around for the game after Kirkwood, because Andrea Barbour of
Patrick Henry C.C. had 45 points in that game. She had 34 points the other night.
Patrick Henry C.C. plays Kirkwood on Saturday.

Andrea Barbour is committed to VCU.

Patrick Henry Community College’s Andrea Barbour and Sonia Johnson will have a new home for the start of next season as both recently signed to play basketball for the Virginia Commonwealth University next fall.

I saw Kirkwood play 3 times this year and can not see any of those players good enough to play at Iowa State.

I have not seen Staci Gillum play but she lead Kirkwood in scoring in the championship game. Kirkwood won their 4th straight national title with a 37-1 record. Staci scored 16 points, had 8 assists and made the all tourneyment team.
She has a 14.237 EFF rating for the season.(*-Efficiency Formula: (PTS + REB + AST + STL + BLK) - ((FGA - FGM) + (FTA - FTM) + TO)) / G)

Also, Andi Waugaman from Waukee was the tourneyment MVP.

It pains me greatly to say this, but Iowa is going to get real good. Printy is a stud already too.

I busted out laughing when I read this quote. Not because of Printy. However calling a girl a stud is very funny to me.

so we have Timmerman, CU, 2012, and it got me to looking at CU's recruiting pool, I saw Prins has a little sister, Megan, who is 6 1. I think I saw her at the games at Hilton with the rest of the Prins family, I think she had red/yellow flowers in her hair. She looked just like her sister. Does anyone know if she is as skilled as her sister? I think it would be neat to have sisters on the same team. Guessing Anna would be a senior, her sister a Freshman, but still it would be neat.

I think Colorado could be a good pull for us. I know the Rockies, the AAU club, really likes our staff and coming to the invitational at Ames. Now that CU has lost their coach, might be time to hit that area hard. I know Steyer has been out there a few times.

I think that was Coach Steyer with the flowers in her hair but she was with Anna's sister. She was sitting with her brother also. I saw Anna's Mom hug both of them.

Are you reporting that we have a commitment for Timmerman, CU 2012?
