WBB: General All-NCAA Thread - Not Team Cyclones Stuff

What's the appeal here? Seems like a lateral move at best and a downgrade as most likely.

This is an interesting read

"There are some clues in how Reed-Francois (AD) has operated at both Missouri and Arizona. She likes to hire people she has hired before.

The first hire Reed-Francois made at Arizona was the swimming coach. She went to UNLV to fill that.

At Missouri, she was tasked with hiring a new volleyball coach. She turned to UNLV and took the very successful Dawn Sullivan. Sullivan has continued her success with the Tigers".

"The two names that have emerged as coaches Arizona could target are Brenda Frese of Maryland and Lindy LaRocque of UNLV. Frese who is an Arizona basketball alum would likely cost too much money and LaRocque posted to social media that she is focused on UNLV".o_O

UConn has been playing really well, and played out of their minds against UCLA. Due to come down to Earth. Plus, as much as it's not wise to bet against Geno, does anyone think Staley is going to let her team get run out of the building in the national final?
At the same time, SC is not the machine they were last year. They are not dominating the same way they have been. They are very good but seem entirely beatable. They have the talent but I haven’t seen them playing like a complete team recently.

Side note: Fulwiley is an interesting case. The broadcast talks about her constantly like she is CC or PB. And she’s clearly a freak athlete. But she plays out of control most of the time and is a terrible distributor. Outside a few fast breaks or a spinning shot, I’ve never seen her take over a game.

I’m hoping for a good game and slightly rooting for a UCONN win.

Never thought I’d be rooting for UConn, but man they are fun to watch…
SC seems to have superior depth. I’d give them the edge talent wise, too but only slightly.

UCONN is playing much better team basketball.

I’m not a student of basketball so perhaps this is wrong: but Staley seems like a great motivator but not as good of a strategist. I give Geno a huge advantage there.

I see UCONN winning this game unless they aren’t shooting well. If they are moving the ball and hitting their shots, I think SC will be out of position a lot on defense which will give UCONN a lot of really good looks.

Watching UConn v UCLA…the one thing that really caught my attention was how quickly they adjusted defensively. Rarely did they ever leave anyone open.

That's why I think if UCONN is hitting their shots they win. I think Geno can game plan around SCs strengths and his team will execute that well.

However, things can always go awry if the other team plays out of their minds. I will never forget LSU draining all those 3s against Iowa. That was totally out of the blue and not something Iowa could have ever game planned for.

I have a hard time rooting for either or caring who wins. Not been a big fan of SC other than Aliyah Boston who I did and do like. UCONN is team full of ESPN #1 HS recruits, it's an all-star team. Throw in I got tired of the Bueckers show back in HS even though I have nothing against her. Not sure I'll even tune it since it's in the middle of the day and it's looking to be the best weather day of the week. I appreciate they are both really good teams but just can't muster up a "care" for this matchup of the perennial favorites.

Today's Officials:
Gina Cross (1st championship, 6th Final Four)
Maj Forsberg (4th championship, 7th Final Four)
Felicia Grinter (2nd championship, 9th Final Four)

UConn up 10 at halftime, with just one 3pt FG (1-7).

+6 margin on pts off turnovers.
