WBB: General All-NCAA Thread - Not Team Cyclones Stuff

Purple kitties are fighting against a Juju-less USC. Just aren't quite getting over the hump of being down 2.

This is the 31st WBB tournament since the expansion to 64 (and now 68) teams.

All four 1-seeds make the Elite 8: 48%
Every Elite 8 team is a 3-seed or higher: 26%

In that same span, the MBB numbers are --
All four 1-seeds make the Elite 8: 23%
Every Elite 8 team is a 3-seed or higher: 10%

Wonder ow having home court factors into this? Obviously there is a difference between the top 8 in the country and most everyone else.

Big get for da Bears. She was a big get last year but did not play this season because of wrist surgery. With RS this year she's got three years eligibility. #11 recruit per ESPN for class of 2023.

The only big difference in the "predetermined sites" years was that there were a handful of teams (16 in 12 years) hosting as lower seeds that snuck through to the Sweet 16, knocking out a big dog along the way.

The all-time laugher was Gonzaga in 2011. Predetermined first/second round host, and there was also a regional in Spokane. They got to the Elite 8 as an 11 seed, arguably in part thanks to playing 4 home games.

2006 was the most "neutral" tournament. Only 8 sites, and 4 of the hosts didn't even make the tournament. The ones that did were seeded 4, 4, 8, 10. Only two hosts (the 4s) made it out of the second round, and neither won their Sweet 16 game. The only team lower than 3 to make the Elite 8 was Utah (5), who started out in Tucson and then had their regional in Albuquerque. And when the dust settled, the Elite 8 was still 1-1-1-2-2-2-3-5.

Otherwise, it was mostly more of the same in that era. 83% of the Elite 8 was 1-3 seeds, 92% was 1-4 seeds.

I really hope the Cassidy Rowe story comes to light because what their new coach did to her is ********

Quick summary?
Rowe bleeds blue and is from Kentucky. Committed her freshman year of hs but tore her ACL twice in hs. Old coach honored the scholarship let her be at the end of the bench and she accepted her role and was completely happy with it. Brooks forced her out and told her to enter the portal. She decided she rather retire from basketball then play for another team.

Kentucky uses all 15 scholarships and Brooks runs a small rotation so highly unlikely he finds someone else for that spot. This next year would’ve been her senior year too. Real **** move imo and not popular among boosters and players

That's just being a a**hole, the last 3 kids on the bench never play on any D1 team, let the kids that love the school and want to be there have those spots. Any D1 school worth a hoot has a men's practice team that the women's team practices against any way.
Half the fun of a blow out is when the end of the bench gets in.

Watching Duke SC yeah ISU is a looong ways from either of these 2 teams. Good to have goals to aim for.
