WBB: General All-NCAA Thread - Not Team Cyclones Stuff

Iowa with the home cookin....refs gave Iowa what, 5 questionable free throws in the last 4 minutes. Clark asking for fouls everything down the court. It gets really old. She can ball but the constant ref complaining kills it for me.
She’s obviously a fantastic player
But it amazes me nobody on national level ever calls out the inefficiency in some games. If I didn’t seek out the box score myself I would have never known she was 14-34 which is pretty mind blogging.

I haven't watched her play many times but I still can't believe during the ISU game this year how she'd just go yell at the refs and they'd change a call. It was bizarre. I mean LeBron or MJ might jaw at a ref and they'll get a call later but in hundreds of games watching them I never saw them yell at a ref and the ref changed the call of the previous play from their yelling.

Reminds me of this one time ISU was playing WVU and they got called for a foul or a turnover and one of the WVU players walked across the court to clap in a ref's face. Could not believe the ref let that happen.
That is a problem today too many officials seem to want to be friends with players/coaches and let calls go unmade so as not to upset people. I remember the call made against Baylor with seconds to go that gave us free throws that won the game. The player who made the foil did not complain ( I had great respect for her) but Kim went ballistic but I had respect for that official for doing her job regardless of the time left or the antics of a coach.

Didi Richards. I too had great respect for her after that. She knew that she fouled.

Good win by Baylor to go 2-0 opening against two ranked teams in Big 12 play.

Man, the eye in the sky camera view in their new arena REALLY sucks. It's like a view from a lighting catwalk in a roofed football stadium or something. Woof.

Should have added that the courtside interview with Baylor sophomore Bella Fontleroy was really good. Most of those can be pretty bad but, man, was she poised and impressive.

Meanwhile in Baton Rouge, it’s dress like Kim Mulkey night and winner gets one of her jackets. Lots of sequins in the crowd.

Nothing like stroking her ego.
Don't know if dressing like the diva gets her stoked. I will say that in this world of NIL, The Iowa City Sith player, lucre chasing conference realignments, SEC/big io domination, ...

...but mostly because college sports changed from a small business to a bloated, self-indulgent industry where administrators could expect close to a seven-figure annual salary, getting wined and dined at five-star resorts and a level of fame that fed their voracious egos if they rose high enough in the industry. https://www.usatoday.com/story/spor...ed-leaders-expansion-ncaa-pac-12/70519616007/

I laugh at Mulkey's schtick in the manner she intends because she does so to raise eyebrows purposefully. In college sports "that woman" is a lesser evil than a lot of the swirling changes our beloved college sports are enduring.

Happened to catch some of the Nebraska Wisconsin women's game last night. Neither team was that impressive and the crowd in Madison was lacking, could not been more that 1000 people it looked like.

Raegan Pebley goes from 14-45 in her last two seasons at TCU, to the GM of the LA Sparks.

1000 is way generous. Looked like a 300-400 to me. There were more fans at the St. Thomas game I attended in November.
