WBB: General All-NCAA Thread - Not Team Cyclones Stuff

K-State eliminated Ezell's squad last night (71-55) in the WNIT.

All three Big 12 teams are still alive.

Thursday - Nebraska at Kansas
Friday - Texas Tech at Arkansas, Kansas State at Washington

For those without a subscription, the list includes Billy as well as Jan Jensen.

EDIT: It's also from Nov 2021. They made a similar list in 2020, but I don't see a newer one anywhere.

Never happen, and it would make some mind-blowing...skin crawling, to hire Jensen if Bill retires. Billy is surely the odds-on.

I think if Jan Jensen wanted to be a head coach, she'd already be a head coach.
What I like about her is stated in the article. She is very adept at developing bigs and may have a hand in Iowa's good recruiting. Her personality may not be there.

She has had offers over the years and chose to stick with Bluder. She is making more money at Iowa ($235k base) then she would be coaching at a mid-major, so I can't blame her for sticking at Iowa. And you don't have the headache of being the head coach.

Her name was mentioned at Drake after Lisa Stone and Amy Stephens left. At one point in her career, I knew she was considered a candidate at Xavier. This article from last year lists her as a potential but unlikely candidate at Missouri State.

Same, UI is my second school but they did not deserve to win that game as they were outplayed in every phase. Some of the calls against Miami were ridiculous and the officiating in general was as bad as I have seen. Yarden Garzon kept them in it but Miami was just tougher and made the big plays every time Indiana came at them with the home crowd behind them.
Miami has far superior athletes.
Quickness matters.

The irony is Coach Steyer is a much more qualified candidate than Billy. Billy gets a lot of the attention but CBF has stated many times publicly that he considers JS the best asst coach in the country. I thought she did a nice job of running the team when CBF missed games. I have heard she has had several offers for head coaching positions but was content here.

I was familiar with Campbell's story but he did not make a list of Top Ten young coaches by this article (some of which could move up):

List

1. Natasha Adair, Arizona State
2. Amber Whiting, BYU
3. Sytia Messer, UCF
4. Katie Abrahamson-Henderson, Georgia
5. Sam Purcell, Mississippi State
6. Coquese Washington, Rutgers
7. Felisha Legette-Jack, Syracuse
8. Joni Taylor, Texas A&M
9. Amaka Agugua-Hamilton, Virginia
10. Dawn Plitzuweit, West Virginia (now U of Minnesota)

Three of these I am familiar with, but none of them enough to have a big opinion upon. No mention of the Wyoming coach;)
Thanks for sharing. My take is that this list is biased towards coaches at upper mid majors (BYU, UCF) and lower P5 schools (everyone else) who have shown promise in the past season or two. Now that Campbell has proven himself at a low major (Sac St) and moved up to a P5 school (TCU), I'd bet $100 he'll be on similar lists soon enough.

I know her name was mentioned for the Drake job a couple of times, but I don't know that she ever showed interest. You have to think there comes a point in their lives where they are content just being an assistant, and I think that is where Steyer is in her career.

Look Clark gets all of the attention and it’s well-deserved. But Maddy Siegrist from Villanova doesn’t get near the attention she deserves. I forgot how good she was when we played them and the entire year she has been an unstoppable force on the offensive end. What she’s doing in this Sweet 16 game against Miami is crazy good.

They just showed Kim Mulkey's outfit for today's game in the tourney...let's just say some flamingo is missing a lot of plumage. (ESPN)
