WBB: General All-NCAA Thread - Not Team Cyclones Stuff

This might set some records for a first round game.

They actually have the record from 2019 for 23,000 over the two games. Looks like they will break that unless they lose the opener.

That is really good for basketball. They got a nice time of 3 pm, during spring break.

Meanwhile, I will be bathing in coffee to be ready for 9 pm. I, like Emily Ryan, go to bed at 9 pm. ;)

Good writeup in the Minneapolis Star Tribune about Iowa's (the state) tradition of women's basketball. One fun fact, in 1970 20% of all girls in the US participating in high school sports were in Iowa.

That's what Clark brings. Which is not good for us because now LB can sell her recruits that "you'll play in front of 23,000 people"

Most of Illinois State's roster are from hometowns that are drivable to Iowa City, including in-state players from Regina, Dowling, and Nevada.

Most of Creighton's roster are from states adjacent to Iowa. They have an IC West alum on the roster as well as former DM Lincoln and Drake standout Linda Sayavongchanh as an assistant coach, and Ankeny native Connie Yori as an advisor.

Time zone wise I'm sort of maybe on boat 500 miles west of LA even though I live in Minnesota. The recent "spring forward" bump has only made it worse.

Thanks for posting....not sure how I missed that article. Being an old dude I dig the Denise Long reference, everyone was following her back than. Weird thing was that at that time my HS did not have women's sports even though my mother had played basketball for little old Strawberry Point in 1938. Sort of sucked that the gals I grew up with got cheated out of sports as girls and young women.

Did your mom send you to Camp Ewalu in your youth?

So far Georgia is out quicking Dayton. Outrebounding and getting lots of second chance points. HUGE disparity in foul shots. Really comes down to Dayton lacking size and quickness on the defensive end.

Turn on ESPNU. LSU down 4 points with 7 minutes left. Mulkey is not happy right now.

Mulkey's players take after her...complaining vociferously about ever call against them. Officials need to T up a couple of them.

This is something I about the Cyclone women - no reaction to officials call
