WBB: General All-NCAA Thread - Not Team Cyclones Stuff

Popped into my newsfeed. Had to him up look, I'm not an Iowan, guys a CR Gazette reporter. Question and answer seem a bit foreboding.

Probably throwing crap against the wall so if it actually happens, they can crow "I told you so", BUT there are people on that thread that predict Emely Rodriguez, Addie Deal and Journey Houston will all transfer after this season. That would be a huge loss.

ISU, TCU, TT and ASU are all undefeated.

Collectively the four teams have played a grand total of two Quad 1 games.

Looking across WBB and the scheduling for a lot of teams is equally soft.

Hell, the four teams combined are
2-0 Q1 teams
7-0 Q2 teams
4-0 Q3 teams
36-0 Q4 teams

Combined, that is 74% of their games (36 out of 49) are against Q4 teams.

Against that team I suspect it would be pretty easy when for some strange reason Miles played 36 minutes and Suarez 31. That’s begging for something bad to happen in a major blowout.

Or prepping for league play when they will need to be in shape to play that many minutes. Keep in mind they are also trying to meld together a team of players who have not played with one another. Miles and Suarez are experienced seniors but have only played together for 12 games. Same for their starting post Clara Silva and guard Maddie Scherr who missed all of last year with a back injury.

There was a game earlier where the coach said he left Miles in to learn to play with four fouls because she would need to do that.

So is this about scheduling or is it more indicative about women's basketball overall? We know there are big gaps. #'s 1-5 are head and shoulders above everyone else. #'s 6-15 are the next grouping and then it starts to fall off. Is there a HUGE gap after about #30 where quality drops off dramatically? Looking at the NET rankings is a bit deceiving as they are snapshots at the time of the game played. But even looking at those, after #30 the number of quad 1 and 2 wins practically disappear. There are blips here and there (like KU and KSU each having a quad 1 win). KU's I'm guessing is Minnesota which has zero quad 1 wins and is 1-1 in quad 2. KSU has a win against Ole Miss which is rather bizarre. Otherwise it becomes a quad 1 and 2 wasteland.

KU playing Haskell Indian Nations University tonight for the championship of Lawrence. KU holds a narrow 60-19 lead at half.
Does it even count? I mean, there is a limit to how low you can go. I looked them up, Haskell is in Lawrence and has 878 total students (all undergrad).

The Jayhawks beat the Jayhawks

UConn beat Marquette 89-53. They were up 40-something at end of 3rd. Sarah Strong only played 25 minutes, the most of any UConn starter. Think that's sort how their conference season will go.

So what you’re really saying is we are pretty good…just not UConn good? :):)

They usually would have had a few more top teams on their schedule to make up for the Big East. Still, they have played USC, Michigan and Ohio State and have Iowa, ND and Tennessee yet but I think they win all of those. Will be interesting to see if Iowa can avoid being blown out Sunday in that "neutral" court in CT.

Era of freewheeling NIL and portal transfers but we seem to be looking at maybe old school UConn domination.

Think the Iowa - UConn game is in the Barclay Ctr in NY - Will still be VERY Pro UConn but better than Conn.

Jensen's reputation is as a "players" coach so that does indeed sound like social media mud slinging.

Depending on her personality, I guess Deal could. She's a highly ranked HS recruit that's been slow to get minutes or start but if she's smart she will stay put and not let ego tempt her to look for greener pastures. She still looks like a good fit for Iowa and she hasn't shown enough yet to make herself some sort of hot portal prospect. More minutes in conference for her if Rodriguez quits, which seems likely. Houston has been playing more than some people thought she would and looks pretty good, not sure what people are seeing that would suggest she leave. All of the recruit attention went to her classmate Divine Bourrage who is averaging a whopping 3 pts a game at LSU as the nations #12 recruit.
