WBB: General All-NCAA Thread - Not Team Cyclones Stuff

Houston has been playing more than some people thought she would and looks pretty good, not sure what people are seeing that would suggest she leave. All of the recruit attention went to her classmate Divine Bourrage who is averaging a whopping 3 pts a game at LSU as the nations #12 recruit.
Divine Bourrage is very good player, but for this year she will not see much playing time at all just like Jada Richard didn't last year. The problem is there's too many horses in the stall. Mulk has 3 all American guards in Johnson, Williams, and Fulwiley. Heck Fulwiley is not even starting yet but she's getting a lot of minutes. Also Bella Hines, another freshman in that super class has played lights out in several games so far. So Bourrage is practically the 4th/5th choice. They are so loaded there you have to wonder if all will stay. So far most are getting a good share of time but I suspect that will change when SEC games start.

Missed first half of UConn/Iowa. Was out chasing a photo of screech owl (got it) than had Rx and groceries to pickup. Sounds like Iowa has been plagued by turnovers. Strong being Strong (I think she's the best all-around player in the country). UConn's 6 through 10 would likely be ranked if that was the top of a squad. Good lordy are they deep. They are just good all across the board in every aspect of the game.

Delaney Gibb was back for BYU for first time since November 15. Only played 16 minutes but BYU still beat UCF by 21 in Florida.

Still have not heard anything about whether Kailey Woolston is returning at the semester or not till next year. With no news I am guessing next season so she'll be out two for years. Per NCAA rules for religious or military absences she'll have three full seasons left if she waits.

Jensen's reputation is as a "players" coach so that does indeed sound like social media mud slinging.

Depending on her personality, I guess Deal could. She's a highly ranked HS recruit that's been slow to get minutes or start but if she's smart she will stay put and not let ego tempt her to look for greener pastures. She still looks like a good fit for Iowa and she hasn't shown enough yet to make herself some sort of hot portal prospect. More minutes in conference for her if Rodriguez quits, which seems likely. The complaint I see from Iowa fans about Jensen is she is too loyal to her starters. Deal was billed as CC part II and listed as an top freshman for 25-26 (named to Wooden Top 50 list) and she can't even crack the starting lineup. If Jensen remains true to her starters, she may struggle to get minutes behind McCabe, and Feuerbach. Add in Stremlow is getting a lot of minutes off the bench.

To your point about Sarah Strong being the best player in the country, she leads the best team in the country in scoring average, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks and FG%. She’s shooting 86.2% on FT.

To your point about depth, former B1G POY Serah Williams is sixth on the team in minutes / game, averaging 7.6 ppg and 4.9 rpg. Jana El Alfy started 27 games for UCONN on last year’s title winner - this year she’s averaging 10.3 minutes / game, tenth on the team.

Absent injuries, I don’t know who’s going to beat them, but it’ll be fun rooting for some underdog to do it. Unlike LSU and USC, they’re likeable - they’re just too good!!!

Iowa women haven’t beaten anyone. They have a win over Baylor who beat a horrible Duke team. Looks like Addy Deal isn’t the real deal. Hawk fans literally thought she was Clark 2.0.

I think Jensen is a ok coach, I'm guessing if Dean was as good as advertised she'd be playing. Not all pkayers make the transition easily. The question is does Dean stay and grow or hit the portal after a yr. Who knows in today's world.

TTU beat Baylor at home, maybe a dark horse?
Baylor’s star portal acquisition sat out until the final two minutes, then appeared to tweak her injury. Even so, Baylor should have won - missed a chippy as time expired.

As I’ve been saying all season, TT has a fun team. Bailey Maupin hit a pair of FT to win the game today. Our own Fritz and Bristow start and were on the court at crunch time. They picked up Snuda Collins and a pretty solid post from SEC schools. A team with nine Seniors or Grads should win a bunch of games…

This game says two things I’ve wondered about, Baylor appears to not be quite as good as what many might think and perhaps TTech will be that dark horse for once. Bristow has been a big difference maker for that team.

Baylor will be a tough out for some teams and might have a big spoiler role. They still play good defense but have trouble scoring. That's compounded by having Scott out, that's 23 pts/game. And, Bella Fontleroy with zero points in 29 minutes?

Interesting that #2 Texas played at South Dakota State today. Won by 19. Don't see the elite teams on the road in the Summit very often. Looked and they played in Austin last year with Texas winning by 46. So, not a bad effort from the Jackrabbits.

Bristow had a tough outing yesterday. 3/11 from the field. Snudda Collins was their go to with 21 points. Maupin had an equally tough day going 4/14. Baylors 6’2” “guard” - Deng - had a hay day against TTech.

Watched the Baylor TT game it was much like the BU Iowa game neither team looked good at times and lots of poor play. I agree with BoxsterCy that either team could be a tough out then again could just be an average team.

You spelled it wrong. It's spelled "Finger Guns" not "Fritz."

I thought the game was Sunday so I missed it. Ended up with nothing to watch Sunday morning so I watched the replay.

I will give Iowa some credit. That game was half them being over-matched and half going toe-to-toe. If that were ISU, I would feel conflicted about that performance. You lost by 30, but you had so many self-inflicted wounds. Wright looks like she can take over a game and is really tough for anyone to match up with her quickness. Their bigs seem very underwhelming, however.

Tech could find themselves in good shape for a couple of weeks. First test, maybe, will be a trip to WVU on the seventh and then BYU 2 weeks later.

Monday matinee in the Big 12.

Utah survives in Tucson, 63-62.

Utes led by 16 at halftime. Arizona had the ball with 8 seconds left and couldn't get it done.

Not a fan of Maupin. She seems to think her doo-doo don't stink. Thinking specifically of her 4th foul where she ran into a Baylor player that was moving with the dribbler and was pissed and complaining to refs and coaches on the bench.
