WBB: General All-NCAA Thread - Not Team Cyclones Stuff

Ran across this while surfin the interweb, from a DSM Register report:

Top 2026 recruits Addison Bjorn and Jenica Lewis (ISU and Iowa targets) will both be in Iowa City Sunday for the Hawks big C. Clark number number retiring thingie. Got Juju Watkins and #4 USC in the house and Fox national game.

Hawks are also hosting Kate Harpring, #2 ESPN Class of 2026 for an official visit. Looked her up and she has offers from ALL of the elites so not sure what the realistic status for the Hawks would be with her but she did have the same trainer as Addie Deal their big 2025 recruit. Guess they figure to give her their best shot with a sellout crowd and playing JuJu.

Also Finley Chastain, #18 Class of 2027 and Bettendorf's Jhaliana Guy, Class of 2028 are being hosted.

Milk the last bit of Clark they can get. Wonder if they will dive into the current problems with PT and disgruntled players and parents?

Iowa gets the W 85-80 over Northwestern
I don't watch much Iowa WBB but I caught the fourth quarter of their recent OT loss to Nebraska and the second half of last night's win over Northwestern. I get why ISU fans "dog" EIU - I've lived in Iowa City since 1998. Having said that, the current version of Iowa WBB (post Clark) is "aesthetically pleasing" - they fast break, set picks, cut hard to the basket non-stop, pass crisply and shoot three's. They're not a bad team - their record is a result of the loaded B1G.

My purpose for sharing this opinion is simply because we're going head-to-head with them over Addison Bjorn & Jenica Lewis and I fear our probability of landing either is dwindling.

They will miss the NCAA although not by a lot. An NIT run might actually help with all of those freshman getting some additional PT. I haven't caught much of them this year, more earlier than now. Couple bad free throw games cost them wins that they will really miss having now. And Stuekle seems really inconsistent and has sort regressed to bad free throw shooting again. Both Iowa and Huskers were good "watches" in that game.

If they retain everyone they will have a good roster for next year, young but filled with ranked recruits from two classes.

We are going head to head recruiting locally but the gals you mention have a LOT of good offers. I am not optimistic about either Bjorn or Lewis but it doesn't necessarily mean I think they are going to Iowa. I think recruiting against the Big Ten and SEC schools in general for top 25 talent is a tough go for us given our generally weaker league and a coach who is at retirement age. Will give give Iowa some credit for how hard they are out recruiting. I see Jensen mentioned frequently as being at HS games in person.

Word on the street is Lewis isnt staying in state.

Creme's bracketology has both eiu and us as last 4 in. Iowa I can see but we are comfortably in if we take care of everyone below us and get at least 1 out of baylor, tcu and ksu×2

If you project, I think ISU is in and Iowa is out just based on the schedule they have left. If you assess based on where we both are right this moment than Bubble Town is fair. Creme and company is a "right this moment" thing like NET, not projections for tomorrow.

Probably need 2 of those 4 to feel safe. Also would be nice to get some help from teams/games that are borderline between Quads.

Solid Q1 (8): vs SC, vs Conn, KSU, at KSU, TCU, at WVU, at BU, at OSU

Borderline Q1/Q2 (2): at Iowa (38, cutoff 45); vs Utah (26, cutoff 25)

Solid Q2 (3): vs MTSU, at AZ, at CIN

Borderline Q2/Q3 (2): at KU (79/80), CU (61/55)

Solid Q3 (5): KU, TTU, Drake, BYU, at UNI

Borderline Q3/Q4 (1): at ASU (133/130)

Solid Q4 (10): UCF, at UCF, EIU, HOU, CMU, UST, SOU, INST, CHST, USCU

Creme commented that all ISU has to do is win the games they are supposed to win and they are in. Anything above that just impacts the seed.

Here is an eerily familiar stat from the Kansas-TTech women’s game…

Kansas only shot 7 three pointers on the night, failing to make any of them.

A real slug fest at LSU. Sooners are having a brawl at Baton Rouge. Both teams had a player ejected. Refs need to get the game under control.

Halftime: LSU with the lead 52-42

Jennie vs Kimmie show!

I got T’d up in HS for slapping the floor after getting called for a blocking foul and being knocked down. LSU players did it anytime they were on the floor and got a foul called against them. Apparently the refs didn’t mind.

Utah holds off Arizona in SLC, 67-58. Utes led by 18 early in the 3rd; Arizona came back and held the lead with 4:00 to go.
