***WBB: 2026 Recruiting Thread***

I was kinda surprised to see this with all of this smoke around Ashleigh Connor.

She was a Freshman who played 8 minutes a game in the SEC. So I will give her a chance.

Plus, Noone thought we could get players that were not 1 year transfers, so she could be a 3 year player, I like that also.

So we lost a Freshman guard to 5-11 SEC Miss St and we gained a PF/C from 5-11 SEC Florida..... have to see next year who got the better deal.

As far as I can tell she was a junior at Florida. So maybe she just didn't play college basketball until last season? Her eligibility clock would have started when she enrolled.

Perhaps this is more of an academic move for her than a basketball one?

She's from Nigeria. It's possible she went to university there before coming to the US.

I didn't know that counted towards eligibility here. Even Florida's website has basically no info.

I think it depends on whether the school had a basketball program, but I'm not certain either. Or maybe it's the 5 to play 4 rule starting when high school is over?

Paulk seems happy to have a new teammate.

Defensive Prowess and Roster Outlook

During her 31 appearances in Gainesville, Ezekiel demonstrated a knack for interior defense, posting a Defensive Box Plus/Minus of 1.1. This defensive reliability will be essential for a Cyclone squad that is essentially starting from scratch. Despite being classified as a freshman last season, reports indicate that Ezekiel will likely have only one year of eligibility remaining to compete in the Big 12.

The current state of the Iowa State roster highlights the volatility of the modern transfer portal era. With the departure of nine of the team’s top 10 scorers, Fennelly is tasked with integrating a nearly entirely new rotation. Currently, the Cyclones have five players confirmed for the 2026-27 campaign:

  • Gift Ezekiel (Transfer from Florida)
  • Mya Babbitt (Transfer from Kent State)
  • Arianna Jackson
  • Evangelina Paulk
  • Freya Jensen

Ezekiel is the second portal addition for Iowa State this off-season, following the commitment of former Kent State guard Mya Babbitt. The coaching staff is also reportedly pursuing other high-caliber targets, including Ashleigh Connor, to round out a lineup that has seen its core identity shift overnight. The challenge for Fennelly will be to mold these disparate pieces into a cohesive unit capable of maintaining the program’s competitive standing in a deep Big 12 conference.
