Not exactly sure.
I hate layovers more than overspending. I am willing to drive to MSP, KC, Omaha and spend 2 hrs driving vs sitting in an airport, especially with factoring in less of a chance of lost luggage or delays.
I flew out of Mason city once, I watched traffic on the interstate as the plane felt like it was bobbing up and down. I now just drive to MSP or DSM. Also had a flight to Phx that was cheaper to fly dsm to MSP to PHX then just MSP to Phx. Asked if I could just drive to MSP and skip the connector, nope they said.

Writing something out that long sounds like my nightmare

It wasn't that bad. I was just a matter of writing 1-2 pages a day for roughly four months.

For comparison, here are the word counts of some books most high schoolers will read --

To Kill a Mockingbird = 100,388

The Old Man and the Sea = 27,000

Walden = 114,634

Uncle Tom's Cabin = 166,622

The Hobbit = 95,356

Nineteen Eighty-Four = 88,942

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets = 85,141

Animal Farm = 29,966

The Hunger Games = 99,750

The Lord of the Rings = 576,459

Twilight = 119,000

Fifty Shades of Grey = 155,749

Those are all relatively slim novels (with some exceptions). My thesis was about 2/3rds of one of them.

Some of them are somewhat less appropriate for teenagers but, eh, time to be young adults.

When will tickets be released? What's the best way to get them?

Also remember this gem:

Haven't been able to find any info on that, but considering this is how full the stadium typically was at Sam Boyd Stadium before they moved to Allegiant, I doubt we'll have any issues getting tickets.

Also a note: UNLV only seats people in the lower level at Allegiant, but still shouldn't be an issue.

Just booked flights out of MSP. Sun Country Airlines. Direct flights. Leave Friday. Return Sunday.
As cheap as $189 round trip, but there are several flights per day.

I honestly have never read any of those.

Just taking a swimsuit with? Sun country hits you with the carryons and luggage.

I bought a overhead carry-on. 30 bucks. For only two days, I probably could have gotten by with just my stuff in a small bag under the seat, but I figured it wasn't too much

Is that for both ways? Never knew how they charged. Saw frontier and alligent is the same way. Not bad if it covers round trip but a little speedy if each way.

I believe it was for the whole trip. It's worth it for a direct flight. And the overall cost with a carry-on and upgraded seat was still under 300. Allegiant is much higher than that out of Des Moines or Cedar rapids. And even if they come down, I doubt it will be a lot lower than 300. There's going to be demand for those flights in central iowa, and there aren't very many of them

Just throwing it out there. I couldn't handle that long in Vegas anyway.
Nope. Me either. 3 days is about the max. At a previous job, we had two trade shows scheduled in Vegas, pretty much back to back. We ended up spending 14 out of 45 days in Vegas, during that time, and I was done after about day 5. I have a hard time with willpower in a place like las Vegas. Just because I CAN have a drink in my hand pretty much everywhere, doesn't mean that I should.
